Yep, that 'whole different animal' part is what sets the hook for most of us!

I was checking everything from cargurus to ebay.
....and my GT350 is a whole different animal than my Z/28! It takes a while to get used to shifting at over 8000rpm at the track! |

What do you mean by whole different animal? I looked at gt350s as well but it doesn't seem like it's as good of a track car but I'm sure it has a lot more comfort for the daily driver.

The non R has more of these 'amenities' but the R is even more stripped down. Ride is just the same. The difference in engine performance is the lack of linear torque. Makes the car behave better coming out of a corner. I'm sure spinning an engine to 8k+ RPM makes it different for sure.

Sound, ride (my 350 is a Track Pack car), view, feel, etc. I'll have the Z/28 to the track in June, but I can say from my limited street miles in the Z that the different characteristics of the motors make them very different driving on the street. My gutted 69 Firebird with a 600 horse LS3, cage, 4-link, coil overs, etc.....that's another story!
