Swap out the gears in the rear end and you'll get a LOT more low end.

...of course a 200 shot on top of a tank of AVGAS would do the trick too, or a RATO pod, but I think we should all give this guy serious answers.

Actually I would suggest that if you think you would spending ~$4,000.00 in upgrades to try make your v6 faster you are better off to upgrade to a v8.

Or just get an SS.
Well since this is the V6 section he wants to know how to get the V6 to go faster not that he should get a V8.

SS down here have been going for 4-8K premium (on the showroom floor) so, add that to the diff in MSRP and you have close to 10K to work with till your at the price of an SS.

Yeah, and that doesn't even include what the insurance companies will charge you for a V8.

Anything can help your 0-60 times. Do the basic bolt on's...get better tires..get some seat time experience, as your 0-60 time will slowly improve..get a tune..or get a better set of gears.

Hope you aren't refering to my advice with this post, because only if he does do everything that I suggested will it cost him 4 grand.

Once tunes are available there will be no need for nearly all of that. Plus, if you were going to do everything I suggested you would want/need a tune anyway. And in fact, if the BBK headers put out what they say they do (waiting for independant results/track results still) it'll be even easier.

As for the people talking about gear swaps and turbo kits/etc you'll notice that I was not one of them. All of my suggestions were based entirely on parts currently available.

I'm having a blast making my V6 a little faster without spending much. Maybe $2000 with CAI, axle back, shorties or long tubes. I'd be doing the same if I chose the v-8 so I'm still ahead the $7k difference in cost from the 6 to the 8. (2lt vs 2ss)

I'm doing some exterior mods, dovetail spoiler, painted stripes, etc. to make the car my own.

I get the car to be very low 5's, 0 to 60 and 14 in the 1/4, well I don't need to go any faster.

Main thing is, I'm having fun and won't look back.

I am sure if you are in the very low 5 range, you'd be in the mid to high 13 range for the 1/4th.

There are PLENTY of SS at MSRP and used ones advertised by members below MSRP.

WAKE UP!

Even at MSRP, you are going to take a 4-5K depreciation hit on the car you have. I bought mine for around 30K, it would be worth no more than 26K in trade. If I get a mildly optioned 1SS, I would still be looking at around 7K to move into an SS. It's not like you can just go back to the dealer and get an upgrade for the difference between the MSRP's. I would say a person shouldn't buy a V6 if they already know they are going sink a lot of money into getting it faster (the exception being if you just like to modify cars as a hobby). If you already have a V6, I think that is a different story. That said, I agree that putting more than 5K in a V6 doesn't make sense for most people.
