Not true. Front plates were around long before traffic cameras. Front plates simply make it easier for law enforcement to see that the vehicle is registered. This way the vehicle can be identified coming or going.

just get some of those push in clips and paint them the color of the car . get the size that is a snug fit. you can find them at the kragen or pep boys or autozone in the help products department.

I'm going to wait till i get pulled over for it and if i do i will be polite as possible to them. If i get nailed for it my back up plan is to do the following http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33924. No drilling required

I have not put a front plate on mine. I'll worry about it when I get busted for it.

There is a diy thread somewhere in here about this.

You can try www.bumperplugs.com

They normally make them for Porsches, but they may be able to accommodate the Camaro, too. They do custom painting, I believe.

You actually don't have to fix it if you get a ticket for no front plates. If you fix it, it reduces the fine. A couple of years ago it was an $81.00 fine or reduced to $10.00 if fixed.

Well in Texas, we are also required to have 2 plates but we also have to have a plate registration sticker the same size as the annual inspection sticker on the front windshield. The sticker shows month and year it expires and the officers use it to see if your registered.

I hate those front plates too and since they can see the sticker on the windshield I have written several letters to our elected officials to try and rid Texas of those darn things. Hope it works!!

Scrappy is dead on about the equipment violation. I have only written one license plate ticket, but have pulled over quite a few for it. The one who got the ticket had multiple things wrong and a pisspoor attitude.

To the OP, I'd look into that flip out bracket when the time comes. You might never get stopped for the plate, but then again.....
I have to agree with mrray. I am a Police Officer in CT and State Law says you must have two plates on the vehicle, attached to the most front area of the vehicle (ie front bumper). I will not normally stop you for not having a front plate on the vehicle because this is a minor offense. Saying that, if I need PC then that is my reason for the stop. Most guys will not write you for it but they can. We can either give a verbal warning, a State Warning (written), or an infraction that is payable by mail or you can fight it in Court (which is overtime for me). I will not normally give you a ticket for it, unless your attitude is poor. I agree it ruins the look of the vehicle. I think the State requires it for extra money for the State because traffic cameras are illegal in CT. The only way I can tell if the reg/plate is expired is to basically check on my in car computer or call dispatch. We used to have the expired date on a sticker, attached to the REAR plate, but now the State requires the sticker to be attached to the front windshield like NY. What a pain this is. It makes our job even harder, but what else is new. To my brother mrray..... be safe out there and watch your 6.

He sells another version for cars with GFX too. Just search his store.
Nice find. Looks decent. Too bad he doesn't have one for the V6 w/ GFX. I might go that route or use zip ties.....probably zip ties......probably nothing at all until I'm told otherwise.

You have no idea how I do business. Have you ever thought that maybe I am not a street cop and my ticket book is buried in my basement someplace?

The whole point that all the boys in blue are trying to make here is that not having a front plate is a cheap ticket for a cop to write. However, you can get written for it. The fine varies state to state obviously, but here it is not a fix it ticket. You pay your $127 bucks and it goes on your record as an equipment violation.

If you are doing something wrong, just don't complain that you get a ticket or a warning ticket or a verbal warning for it.
