The shop in town: would the owner be interested in developing the car for the track and creating a "partnership" between you and the shop? Cover it with Advertisements, and track it?

this is what i would do, First off keep the car. I dont think you will get 8,000. i would stay away from idea 2, you will put in way more money than you will add to the value. The halo lights are about 1,000 each if i remember correctly. Idea 3 really isnt bad, the best out of the three.
Personally i would bite the bullet and rebuild the car from the ground up. Having my father pay me back only half of the repairs since no one would have had to pay anything if i had insurance. LAST STEP: GET SOME INSURANCE.
And thats it, shit happens and all of those involved were held responsible and had to take a hit.

Think of all the things you wanted to do to this car but it was too new. Now you have your chance.
That is insurance fraud right there....don't do this!!

Hopefully you don't even consider the "fooling the insurance" deal. Stick with #3 and have some fun with the Cmaro down the road with your dad. You would be amazed at just how many people visit this site (like guys and gals who work at insurance companies) and might just turn somebody in if they found out. Prison time... JMHO

I feel certain any insurance company would discover fraud in this case....cancel the policy, put it back on a week later, then total the car a week later.....with no police report, proof of towing, accident pictures, etc.....I think they'd want some documentation.

I would highly recommend against insurance fraud....you thought your rates were high before, wait until you get caught comitting fraud......you might be without insurance for the rest of your life.

Either sell it as is or rebuild it totally...there is no halfway to get some more value out of it.....its either in good driveable shape or its a wreck.

Sell it "as is", and take your lumps now.

Sorry to hear this...to tell you the truth you may be much better parting out the car. Its the best way to get the most money back and start fresh. Good luck

So in the end the suggestion of insurance fraud is not only stupid its irresponsible.
Yeah I definitely wouldn't do this. Insurance fraud shouldn't even be an option. This is one of the most unfortunate stories I've read on this forum.

Sorry for your luck man.............but the facts are........

1. I think in every state its ILLEGAL to drive without insurance. Thank god no one was killed - sounds like it was a pretty brutal accident, but thankfully all you lost was the car. This could have been really bad.

2. Why am I even reading posts from people suggesting that this guy commit obvious insurance fraud - aren't your rates high enough yet?? How about take responsibility for your actions and live with the results.

Don't mean to get on the soap box but this is why our country is where it is today! I feel bad for you but take your lumps and make the best of it - go with option #3 and build yourself a kick-ass hot rod!

Do not require insurance, but they do require that you have the financial responsibility. Also, another little known fact in Georgia in a pickup truck you are NOT required by law to wear a seat belt. What does this have to do with the topic? Nothing..lol

I didn't see in your post anything about a police report. If you hit a gide rail and a tree that's property damage and plus the car couldn't run under it's own power. In Pa. If you didn't call the cops in this type of wreck that's breaking the law. If there was a police report filed then there is a paper trail that would get back to an insurance co if your condisering fraud( which is crazy) or if your going to try passing it off as a clean car to someone. Unless this car gets parted out, from what I'm reading , someday it will end up with some that thinks it's clean. Even if he fixes and keeps for awhile ,what's to keep him from selling it down the road as a clean car if their is no record of what happen. I hope you think and do the right thing. Take your lumps, but be a stand up guy.

Look at a "Body in White", it's alot more work, but the body will be straight.
Besides then you can mod to your hearts content.
