My first car was a 1970 Chevelle. At seventeen, I bought the car from a friend for $100. It had a 307 with a Turbo 350 transmission, the heads and manifold had been removed for sometime. The car sat in the backyard of my parent’s house until I was 21. After leaving school my father and I built a 350 c.i. small block and attached it to a Super T-10 and 12-bolt posi rear out of a 67 Chevelle. It was my daily driver until the first snow fall. So I got an ’86 Camaro, not a great choice for getting to work in the snow but I survived.

My first car was a 1975 Civic.
That was in 1985.

I hated that car so in 1986 I bought a,

Wait for it.............

Yugo.........

Two hours after I picked it up I wanted my Honda back.
I brought it home, went inside for dinner, came back out and it wouldn't start.
Kept it for a month and bought a truck....

mine was a 72 Chevelle Malibu.. had 130,000 on the sbc 350 and smoked badly with no power.. swapped the engnine within 1 month of buying it, knew I had to do the engine when I bought it. This was back in 82 so the car was actually still decent..LOL
That was my first solo engine swap as well , I was 18 and fresh out of high school.. that car was a blast ! We terrorized southern New Hampshire in it, was green with black SS stripes.

My first car wasn't crappy at all. It was a '78 Camaro. My aunt and uncle bought it new in '78 and my cousins drove it through high school and college. When I turned 16 in '88, my parents bought it from them for a grand. I fixed it up, put Z/28 air dam and spoilers on it and painted it black. I drove it from high school through my freshman year of college.

I sold the '78 and bought a used '82 Z/28 because I loved the body style and it had t-tops. I kept it for about a year until I couldn't afford the gas and insurance anymore. Had various crappy cars until 2001 when I bought my first new vehicle ever, a 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport. In 2005, I bought a '92 RS with t-tops as a beater/project car. I'm still working on it, but it's almost done and ready for paint in the spring. I drove the Dakota for 10 years until I got rear ended last summer and totaled it. I took the insurance money and put it down on my '10 Camaro. Best decision I ever made and I'm glad to be driving Camaros again

I'm sure you never see this VW

In 1967 I bought my first car a 1963 VW Karmanghia 1600 just for the period I had to wait for my 1967 Corvette Tri-Power 427 - 435HP. Just imagine I was 19 years old at the time.

Here's a pic of a very rare VW:

Red face

I had a 77 or 78 Chevy Monza notchback coupe with the 4cyl engine and auto tran. My dad bought it for my as my first car when I was like 14/15 that was gonna get fixed up for me when I was 16. this car was mostly solid but almost NOTHING worked, gauges, transmission, horn, etc. the only thing we ever did on it was pull out the 4cyl and put in one from a 82/83 Camaro base model and put new tires on it. we sold it before I turned 16 and my dad got me the 80 Malibu instead, MUCH better car. mine was the same looking as that one but we had the factory steel wheels with body color hubcaps. to be honest I would not mind another one of them cars but I would rather have the hatchback or the one with the dual headlight nose that looks sporty as hell .
