Add me to the list of happy v6 owners. I drag race regularly and did not need another drag car. After driving the 2LT it was an easy decision. It does not take 400+ hp to drive on public roads. In fact it can be quite dangerous in the wrong hands. JMO....

I got mine for the price I wanted and am very happy. I rented a V6 in FL for a week and racked up 600 miles on it. WOW, I was impressed with the power. I came back to CA and decided to buy one. I test drove an SS around but was still very impressed with the power the V6 was pumping out so ended up buying one. I had set a figure I wanted to pay for a high performance "FUN" car and figured why spend $7000 more on a car that is only 1 sec faster and gets worse gas mileage.

Of course I ordered a 2LT/RS package, but a 1LT/RS came in with the exact same options and was $3000 less, so picked it up 5 weeks before mine was going to be finished. I gave up center gauges and leather, but for me it was worth it.

I am loving every second in the car. Either way, you can't go wrong and both the V8 and V6 are no slouches in the power department. You will love either one so get what you can afford and want to spend.

1LT and loving it, mine is a daily driver, so I don't need all that power, and like pretty much everybody said, the gas mileage savings are worth it to me.

Like others have said no I could have picked up a 1SS for the same price (MSRP) as my 2LT/RS, A6, Sunroof, or I could have paid another $9-10k for a loaded 2SS/RS. My reasons were simple. I love the car lots of creature comforts, love the looks, style, everything. This is NOT your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Gen Camaro V6 from a power standpoint it’s like an early 4th Gen LT1 power.

1. Car has 300 HP
2. Daily Driver (if I opted for the SS she would be my second garage queen show car I am waiting for the convertible )
3. I already have a V8 Z/28 in the garage to hold me off until I order (see below)
4. I am holding off until 2011 when the convertible is available then I will order either a 2SS/RS Convertible or a Z/28 Convertible 

I needed a new daily driver and am not able to have a new car that just is driven on the weekends and put up for the winter. The price of the 1LS coupled with the decent HWY mileage ( I drive 130 miles a day so I'm just trash my rides) and looks got me into the Camaro.
THE BAD.
It has enough power that I want more. I put NO2 on my first Camaro back in 1980 and it was built. It is like being an alcholic getting a drink. Can not believe how well it runs. There is the V V T exhaust note from the 2K-3K under light load that is worse with aftermarket exhaust. At idle, my Camaro sounds great and while it is under WOT but light load from 2K-3K I don't like it at all. I have the long tube headers and hi flow cats with an X pipe and cambered mufflers. It made 268HP 244 TQ. That aint bad at all.

I ordered the 1LT because of the fun and the cost factor. Currently I drive a TSX which gives me 200HP and 23 MPG city/30Hwy..........I also have a lead foot

So I wanted something that was close. 1LT featured:

1) 304 HP
2) 18 City/29 Hwy
3) Kickass exterior design

I was close to jumping on the 2LT, but then I saw that it would only give me the gauges and leather for the extra change. Gauges aren't a necessity for me and I did not want Pleather seats again. Plus it still didn't have the Midnight finish rims or the Halo Headlights.

So for few grand less, I ordered 1LT with RS and Convenience Packages. This way I get the headlights and the Rims

As for the ride, it is stupendous. I was very surprised at how nimble the handling was. I was pretty concerned about the added weight and size of the car compared to the TSX, but driving the car, I did not even notice it. Also the car just plain fits me like a glove. My parents and I believe that if you buy a car, you should get a feeling that it fits you day in and day out.

I hope this helps. If I had the money now and in the future for the costs of upkeep, I would get the v8. If you have that money more power to you. But if you think you will be paycheck to paycheck paying for a car that is a gas guzzler, uses premium gas, and is only a sec faster than the v6, its not worth it.

Good luck!

That statement right there tells me you will not be content with the V6.... If you do go with the V6, you will have that nagging in the back of your mind that won't go away until you get the V6... seen it before... lots of times...

Unless you are going racing, you will be impressed with the acceleration and ride.

Good Luck!
But I do go racing! The V6 is a great race car... mid-14's stock! And the other thing is the car is incredibly consistent which is what you want since you'll most like be bracket racing!

And to be fair, while the Mustang GT has 300 HP it has 320 TQ which is considerably more than the V6 Camaro...

The LLT V6 is awesome ! Tried a CTS with the same engine and enjoyed the performance. When I found out that the camaro was going to have this engine it sealed the deal for me. I already have a cruiser in my 69 SS vert and I needed a daily driver. The only thing better would have been a LLT Vert. But now I am thinking that I just might get a V8 vert when they come out and pass my 69 on to others in my family.
Being quite handy and having a heated garage (needed in New England if you want to work on your car) I opted for the base LS since I wanted to make this car my own.
Since Oct. I have gotten all the options I wanted installed ranging from the homelink, 21" rims from a 2SS, custom spoilers, HID headlights and true Foglights. All this and more for under 1/2 the option price ! Not to mention the enjoyment of actually doing these Mods. The car is a breeze to work on with just a set of good tools and the help of the Camaro5 family. Where were you guys when I was doing the frame off for my 69 back in the early 80's !
I agree with most here that if you don't have it in you to do these mods go get the RS package on the LTs. But if you want a real good deal and have a little time getting an LT or LS is a great deal. Oh and you won't be disappointed in the V6 !

But then again If gas gets up over 5 bucks a gallon and it gets hard to find premium again...he may say dang I wish I had gotten the V6...(this is very possible with the world situation and the Gov clammoring for new gas taxes)

Only, AND I MEAN ONLY reason I bought the V8 is this was a chance to spoil myself once. So I tried my best to get what I wanted. I wanted a V8.

Can't take anything away from that V6, makes alot of power on Regular gas! Some people actually like the way the front on the V6 looks better, and overall it's an outstanding pkg! Argueably, it's even better bang for your buck then the V8 is.

That was exactly my thinking, the V6 Camaro gives better bang for the buck, however the V8 does give the bigger bang!, ultimately!
