When I get mine in a few years, any one of my relatives can drive it as long as they fill up the tank.

Uh, I have lost my SS Camaro dream car to my wife without even a test drive! The keys have yet to touch my hand! She did let me ride in the passenger seat yesterday . . . once!

Warning! Husbands, do not let your wife drive your car!

We now have a G8 GT (mine) and a Camaro 2LT (mom's) in the family for similar reasons.

Mainly, she "had to have" a new Malibu when they came out 2 years ago, and at the time wanting to save fuel, etc. I recommended a 4-cyl model from my experience with them as rentals and otherwise. That was fine. She enjoyed it. Dad liked the car, but thought it was a slug. The more he said it and the more the mileage was just pathetic thanks to a 4-spd that kept it revving to the heavens, and then I traded my own '09 Malibu V6 for a G8 GT a year later...she started thinking. Fast forward to this fall, she started seeing Camaro's, begged to drive my car but I never let her. "I need power! I want a Camaro!"

Thought she was nuts. Thought she'd open the door and struggle to get in or out, not be able to see, and hate it. Didn't happen. Took her to go drive a white/orange 2LT at the local dealer "I just want to drive one, not ready to buy" within minutes of seeing and sitting in it, she was sold. Went to leave the lot and about lost it "whoa! It has power..." vs. her Malibu. This time again I knew the V6 was all, and more, than she'd need...and thankfully so. She initially said the SS was cool and asked why not a V8, then she saw the prices. Drove my G8 GT once over Thanksgiving but only into town and never got to pound it, only putter around, so she didn't see much.

Now she has a new Camaro V6, it's "her" car vs. always the family/"our" car for her, dad, and dogs, and no one is to touch it. Also for the first time she gives me reports of driving it hard, etc. Yeah, I could see that. The night I took her to the dealer in PA to look at/buy it, she was burning out of the lot before she even had the seatbelt on correctly...

The only thing now is, I compare G8 to Camaro all the time...G8 just does it for me, in so many more ways, but that look and the SIDI 3.6L, the coupe setup, etc. of the Camaro catch my eye. And, well, I have a huge back seat, trunk, ride/handling I like more, and ultimately a more exclusive car...she's the hot mom in the way rad Camaro. Hah!

This is why my girlfriend has yet to drive my car. She loves it now, but I know once she drives it, I'll have to take the keys back by force.

I let my wife drive mine. I put the wash bucket away and we hopped in. Went down the main road and she turned into a new neighborhood being built. Dirt all over the roads. Got home and got the wash bucket back out. 10 minutes between washes. Could be a record

Thanks for saying that. I had typed something similar 3 or 4 times but wondered if it was worth it. It was!

I don't know why some guys talk down about women. Not cool.

I have three daughters that each learned how to drive on manuals (2001 Subaru). They each have commented that they love to show up those guys that don't think women can drive a manual well. Each has also had the pleasure of driving my 69 SS vert for beach trip in the summer (real guys magnet, their comment not mine). Now, my 2010, not ready to have anyone drive it besides me !

If my wife ever let our daughter drive the 2SS . . . it would only be with one optional accessory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chastity_belt
