It don’t come easy.

“Warm”ing the oil is fine, as long as you get it to operating temperature. I believe it’s somewhere around 212 degrees, in order to burn off the condensation in the oil. Otherwise, your doing more harm then good by constant startups when cold.

I do.
Spent much of the late 70s and early 80s in NE Ohio learning body repair. First car was a '74 Dodge Dart Sport and in '81 you could chunk a softball into several of the holes. ![]() I got outta there as soon as Uncle Sam would take me.

Yes I usually let it get up to temperature, not only for condensation but to also get all the seals warm and lubricated. Have had too many cars in the past with bad seals come spring. The condensation problem isn't as bad in the winter as cold air is usually very dry. Compared to summer storage if I leave my Equinox in the garage for a couple months without driving it the brake rotors are covered in rust.

Car is detailed. I run a few tanks of 91 octane Non-Oxy thru the car prior to storing. I back it into the big pole building in the back corner and cover it. I'll see it again in 6-7 months. Right now it is behind snowmobiles and UTVs.

Says the guy from FL. Don't get me wrong, I love FL and travel there once a month to get away from MN winters. Winters are hard, especially on the toys.

Yeah, respect to you guys out in the mid-west. Winters are tough and definitely not an environment you want to expose your pride and joy to. Those in the south who have never had to endure the effects of 6 months of salty roads just don't understand the devastation one winter can do to your car. I am sure our cars looks just as good as theirs but only because we're doing the right thing and not driving them in the winter. On the bright side we can say we have 6 months of uninterrupted mod time!

For the southern guys. Exterior of the 2008 truck looks pretty good for a truck exposed to gravel roads and winter roads in northern MN doesn’t it? This is what happens to wheel wells and rocker panels up here. They rot from the inside out.
