I thought that if you change the cats location, it voids the cert and you have to re-apply to CARB... which takes many months from what I'm hearing.... It may pass the sniffer if your inspector isn't too picky but, technically, it's not a certified emmission system till CARB does the recert.

and doesn't tuning do something to the factory warranty???

can these be installed without changing the cats?

I get my inspects from a local tire place. I spoke to him at length about it. He said for the first 2 years they will look to make sure it has cats and no dash lights are on and after that it has to pass the sniffer. He said that the old do not remove the stock cats are still on the books but those were created before they had mandatory emission testing here. He said long as I pass the emission test Im golden. I do remember the days when cats first came on cars, some peeps would remove the inards.
