What tires are you running on your Z/28?

The appearance of the MPSS 325/30/19 is been gratifying -price is doable (my perspective) -performance superseded the Perrelli PZero.
Now, from my experience (NJ) these tires, neither of the two, are good for sporting in wet weather but, are manageable. If subjected to snow, my Z28 goes “NO WHERE”. Lol, I couldn’t even role my ride out of a parking spot for placement into storage.
Also to add: as in performance- running the 325’s conducted a run with Lamborghini (type unknown) but appeared to be remarkably pricey (1.2m quoted at rally) and was overwhelmingly elegant if not that of elite; thus I did not expect a win or anything of this sort… I rolled. Along with a Porches G3 ( if I recall correctly- I would have to investigate the pictures again) …But my- the Z28 gave them all a good run. The only sports car that seemed to have advantage was the Lamborghini. But, there was no winners, no losers but, merely a sensational time running with super-sports car enthusiasts quite like ourselves.
In closing, the MPSS did well. The only issues that I can recall was “hitting it hard” from 2nd and 3rd gear. I would get wheel spin, would let out and accelerate slowly- deliberately.

My experience, wish the best….

Hey GRIM how much clearance do you think you have in the front? I am going to run TOYO R888R's in the front after they get back from powder coating to match the almost brand new 325's in the rear and am worried about clearance without spacers. The measurements don't seem to work out, but I see a lot of guys saying they run 325's up front? These TOYO's are 13" on the dot mounted on back. With the 11" wide fronts and smaller 6.5" offset I am still worried there is going to be some rubbing on the strut tower. Any advice would be appreciated. Really want to square up the car. Thanks!

Got the 19" spare from Modernspare.com. It came with spacer. Just wondering if it's needed since it was designed for SS/Z28? Have you used it?

It's my understanding that the spacer is for the front, I believe it's for proper offset or backspacing to clear the 6 piston Brembos. I haven't test fitted it yet (I should have!) but once I got it all mounted in the trunk I just sent it! If you're feeling up to it give it a try and post some pics. Another tool you may want to pick up is this "assist" piece from ZL1 Addons. Makes schlepping the Z/28 wheels on and off much easier and keeps you from damaging the precious rotors.

Now I need to decide on the tow hook....ZL1 add on or European crash beam with pre-drilled hole.

I recommend the ZL1 Addons model. Easy to install. You only need to remove the passenger side fender well liner and drill 2 holes.

I have done both. I did the LeftCoast32 bar on the Z/28. Lighter and has a threaded hole that fits the ZL1 Addons Tow hook perfectly. I did it when I switched out the headlights to the RS ones.

I did the ZL1 threaded adapter on the 1LE. Again, I tackled the job while switching out the headlights and I am glad I did. I had a problem with the adapter fitting into the backside of the crash bumper. It was super tight and I had to persuade it quite a bit to the correct postion. It was much easier with the bumper and crash bar off on the ground for me to get it correctly aligned.

Modern spare instruction says to use provided lug nuts to attached spacer to hub. But I think factory lug nuts should be used instead.

I'm asking their support on this.

I race autocross with mine. This year I'm running 2 setups.

Apex 18x11 wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71 RS's up front in 295/35/18 and Yokohama Advan A052 in 315/30/18 in the rear. They work really well.

On the factory wheels I currently have Falken RT660's but I corded one so they are coming off and I have on pre-order a set of RE-71 RS's in 305/30/19 coming in.

hey Joelster, interesting setup. What is the reason for moving to 18in? Is it the softer tire wall that helps with sharp direction changes? so you prefer grip over accuracy?
I'm curious. When I got my Z/28 it had 20" wheels... it was decent, but with 19 it's so much better... I wonder if 18 is even better.

Looks like a good deal. $2K to $2300 at my local Discount Tire depending on road hazard warranty selection. Make sure the date codes are recent.

2 main reasons for going with 18" wheels. First is that it really opens up your tire choices since Yokohama doesn't make a big A052 in a 19" wheel. The Yoks are arguably the fastest tire for autocross. If you want to run a competitive tire that is 315+ on a 19" wheel, you're stuck with the Falken RT660. The second reason is that the wheels are quite a bit lighter. Not that the factory wheels are heavy or anything. But unsprung weight is a major thing.
