Very interested to see how the CHE's are holding up in these builds, since they use a different floating style, non-pressed bushing.

I have about 8k miles left on my springs, based on my schedule and will likely be replacing the CHE's with new or going elsewhere depending on what we learn here ,and what I see on tear down.

Yea, it will be interesting to see how the CHE's are doing, but so far, no one has any pics yet. I guess the OP that posted he had some with 20k on them, didn't have pics to post. Not that 20k miles is going to show much....

A little information about those pictures:

This is with 20K miles
- first 10K miles was with stock LS1 heads and rev limiter set at 6600
- second 10K mikes was with PRC 225 heads, rev limiter set at 7000, intake valve weighs 108 grams

The cam is a Texas Speed Torquer V2, 232/234 0.600"/0.600"

I used Redline 5w30 oil

Those still look pretty promising. I'm glad I went with them this time around. Thanks for the post and pictures.

Looking more closely at your pictures on my computer I can definitely see the wear on them now. They look like they need to be replaced but what are your thoughts on the wear? Would you replace them now or would you say they could go some more miles?

I would have absolutely replaced those. They don’t look catastrophic or anything, but the wear is visible.

Definitely looks worn, just more evenly, no doubt due to the full floating design letting that move around and spread evenly. I think the original idea of trunnion maintenance intervals should track with valve spring intervals.

I intend to throw these right back on the new engine and keep beating the tar out of it. They only look slightly more worn than they did at 8k miles (pic below), and to be honest, I'm not sure how much of that is a difference because of the lighting. There is no perceivable play in it when it's assembled. I'll probably check them again at the beginning of each season moving forward, but I expect these will run without any problems for quite some time yet.

There was no perceivable play when my oblong bushings were installed either. I’m sure you’ll be ok for a bit, but as cheap as they are, I’d replace them with springs. Just basic maintenance really.

Agreed with the above. Looking closely at the pics you can see the wear and scoring on them, as stated just more evenly. As Andrew said, I would just make it a note to replace them when the spring refresh is done, just for safe insurance as they are made of a softer material and do wear. And being that they are so much easier to do than the press ins, yea I would do it for sure. Thanks for the pics sir.

Just put the C.H.E.'s in my rockers. Also, the bronze bushings, trunions and clips can be purchased separately. Bob570, read some of your posts awhile ago in the LS1 forum.

Damn, thanks for the pics Bob. Honestly, those don't look that bad and seems reasonable for 20k miles.

Still, I wouldn't have the balls to reinstall them and would replace if I was already in there. Looking forward to when I can afford a nice set of shaft rockers. I only owe $2400 on the car...6 months left! Then the real mods start lol.

Hi all , I got real curious after seeing all of this ,as I installed the Smith Brothers bushing kit in my 416 stroker. So I pulled them and cked them out ,all were worn even with about .012 wear groove at the bottom with very noticeable wobble, and I have less than 5000 mi on the build. No visible metallic in the oil , trunions were just starting to show wear .
That's not acceptable to me ,so I went with the BTR's TK002 kit that has the bearing steel sleeves pressed on with oil feed holes and the big side washers . This looks like a good set up, we will see.
