I agree kevman, but there is some good news. I exchanged PMs with CamaroPete, and he contacted someone he knows in GM who is trying to help. No news yet but I am relieved that there is another avenue that hasn't been explored. At this point I believe there may not be anything "faulty" with the clutch or related components on my car, but it may be a design issue since so many are having similar problems. I don't really know for sure, but I do know that my clutch smells and the pedal sticks.

ya know what this happened to me!!! and i have driven a stick for YEARS and never had a smell... so much so that when it was happening i didnt even know what it was!!

my circumstances are NOT even like others. i was NOT doin a hard launch. i was simply driving up a steep hill, stopped a couple times and started up again. i wasnt slippin the clutch too much or otherwise driving the car different in anyway. but when i got out, the smell!!! i walked around thinkin it was the brakes, but didnt understand how it could be that. i never EVER thought it was the clutch because i REALLY wasnt hard on it at all. i will be keepin an eye on it now! this sucks...this car ain't cheap, and should be made to be driven

Any problems with the clutch pedal sticking, burning in the V6?

Mine will do the same thing in that situation. It doesn't require a hard launch, if you're starting from a stop on an incline. Please...report the issue to your dealer. GM keeps telling me I am the only one having this problem!!

i been threw two 2ss camaros, one of them had so many problems that I had to get rid of it and kept the one that was good.

Both of them were m6 and had a slight cluch burn smell when going up hills from a stop. Its weird that these clutches start to burn in such light loads. I am still in the break in procedure and drive my cars like a grandma until i fully break in the car. When on a hill reversing our going up a hill even a slight tiny rev fanning the clutch at 1200-1500 rpm to bring up the revs before full engagement on a steep hill i would smell burning clutch. This type of driving is normal operation especially up a hill. It makes me think of the quality of the clutch disk used.

I have driven and raced many manual transmission vehicles with stock and performance clutches, I am fully aware of engaging the clutch without any throttle but this only applies on non incline surfaces. Also no other car would burn like this doing normal up hill procedures fan rev around 1200-1500 rpm. I am hoping its just a break in thing.

My other 2010 2ss maro that i bought from a shady dealership had so many problems, before i got rid of it i took it back to the shady dealership and they told me that I am not suppose to rev the clutch at all period. Which is BS all manual transmisson needs a slight rev up especially on a very steep mountain incline from a stop. I called them on it and had the tech try to go up a steep hill without any rev up and he screwed up and made the car die out and roll back wards. There were so many other problems with this camaro that i was a nightmare.

The good working camaro i own makes a smell occasionally but its slowly getting better.

I am getting the same smell but I only have 1800 miles on mine so i was leaning in the direction of the break in but if it continues I will CERTAINLY be reporting it to GM. I havent had the pedal stick yet though but I will be sure to keep an eye, or foot, out for it.

I get the smell and thought it was me/just needs break in etc. I backed my car out of the garage last night after being in storage and got the smell. I would hardly think the system was hot????? Last drive season I noticed it from time to time as well.
I have a call into my dealer......the last thing I want to have happen is problems 1000+ miles from home during C5fest.

This is very interesting indeed.. I was considering trading my 6 in for the 8.. I patrol the 6 forums on a regular basis, and have for a while, and i cant recall seeing anyone with a manual 6 having these problems. I hope GM finds a solution.

I had burning smell first couple days I would try backing my car into the garage (didn't want to hit wall and waiting for backup sensor to give me a steady tone, I was little nervous), but not any more. No burning smell at all in any conditions. The only thing I noticed about my clutch is that the first few days I had the car, the clutch would engage as soon as I would start lifting my foot up (btw, I was pressing my clutch all the way to the floor). After that, it seems, that my clutch now doesn't engage until about 1/2 way of the pedal travel. It's been that way now for over a week, nothing has changed.

Status update: CamaroPete helped me escalate my issue to GM's "executive office". I got a call today by a person who even gave me their last name (always a sign of progress in my opinion since they are not clutching to anonymity). She said she would call me back tomorrow to update me. She did agree with me that having bad smells from the clutch and the pedal sticking should not be acceptable to GM and that some action needed to be taken. So that's a start. I'll update when I have news...

I'm calling my local dealer tomorrow as the smell was really bad, again, today. The clutch didn't stick, and I didn't do any rough take offs. Just a fast takeoff, stop, clutch smell! :( Argh! I'll see when I can bring her in...what a pain!

Ok, just got back from my local dealer. He test drove the car, and of course the clutch didn't stick, however, it did smell like it was burning from just a quick takeoff. So, he is wanting me to leave the car with him and they will go through the clutch & tranny.

Now, that could be good, or bad - depending on what they do. ;( I can't leave it this week as he wants more time and prefers a Monday. Next week won't work since I told him I need my car back by Wed for a possible Coilover install by Stillen. So, we're targeting April 12th...

We'll see...

Status update: the person I've been put in touch with at the "GM Executive Office" has arranged for a regional GM representative to have a look at the car. This will be 2 weeks from now due to scheduling issues. I will likely take him for a drive to replicate the issue, and then we will see what happens. He said he may ask the dealership techs to drop the tranny again so he can have a look at the clutch and pressure plate. He said he had spoken with the dealer to get their opinion and they told him that it's all because of the way I drive it. As I've already said in this thread I don't buy that for a second, for several reasons (14 years experience with manual transmission Camaros that I drove much harder than I have driven this one, my '91 has 202K miles on the STOCK clutch with no issues, and many others on this board having the same issues). I'll post up after I find out what happens next.
