Take your time, dont get frustrated. Youll smell the clutch more in this car since its vented. Eventually when you get the hang of if youll be able to get going in first without even pressing the gas, same thing with hills, youll be able to just let the clutch out and go without even rolling back..

Chin up, good luck!

Honestly my only problems lie in steep hill starts and the fluidity of applying gas and releasing the clutch between shifts. Going for silky smooth.

I've noticed that I dont even need to touch the gas to get this car moving on flats and even up small inclines.

+1 to seat time

Hello Neighbor... where you are is kind of busy usually, i'd say hit a quiet place like rotterdam mall parking lot late LATE at night, or a parking lot, like the high school lot I used when I learned stick. All the advice and tips in the world won't mean much in comparison to just practicing, and practicing. In all honesty, Whatever car you learn on, you can expect to right off the clutch and chaulk it up to learning experience! Probably the biggest mistake is starting off in 3rd gear instead of 1st, and the hardest problem you'll have is bumper to bumper traffic on a hill with a stick. With time, and alot of practice, it'll become second nature, which is what is has to become, because if you dwell on it, and think about it while your doing it, you'll make mistakes. It'll get better with time and practice.. When I started with sticks, I was 15 in my uncles truck with a 3 on the tree which screwed me up, then came my malibu which was very touchy, but then I was driving a very large lumber delivery truck, and that's what taught me the most! Good luck and keep patient!!

Applying the ebrake when on grades is a little trick as well, this will prevent you from rolling backwards. When you are ready to go forward press in the clutch, shift, hit the gas, and when you feel it putting pressure against the brakes let of the ebrake.

You'll get there man I have faith in you .

I would advise against the e-brake trick doesn't work to well for you if you drive a car with a foot e-brake like my CTS. Just practice you'll be fine.

Well, it isn't all that bad.

Just - Practice

Practice

Then Practice some more.

You'll get the hang of it.

Enjoy that Bad Boy!

Do you know how to get to Carnegie Hall?

Yes, Practice.

That's all you need.

Practice until you can do it right, then practice until you can't do it wrong.

J/K!!! A little more practice and you'll get the hang of it. Think of it as a sport. Some people are born-athletes and others are made-athletes. You need to practice practice practice. So pull the car out of the garage and show that f**king clutch whose boss!!!

Hey don't fret about it- everyone sucks their first time! Take it slow the next couple of times out and you'll get the feel of it. The car will let you know how it likes to be handled. My car and i have some great conversations. Such as.. we can blow that sucker off the line easy OR dude, you are so not our type.

My advice buy an old beat-up manual car or truck for about $500 and drive that around to work on your weak spots. I know its not exactly the same but its cheaper than replacing parts and wear and tear on your baby.

Man, I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I know we've all had our embarrassing moments on the road (well, some of us - well, me at least). The times I've screwed up in traffic, I've just felt like banging my head against the wall - or some other form of self-punishment. Do your best to not let it get to you - its a learning experience most drivers go through.

Have a calm mind while continuing to practice like everyone has mentioned and you'll be driving without thinking twice about what you're doing.
