I see a lot of people saying it helped reduce the 1st to 2nd gear grind, but most of these threads I'm reading a REALLY old.
Cant say, I went with the GM recommend trans fluid.

Do you know what OEM fluid you put in it? When I search I get 3 different results for the AC Delco manual transmission fluid. 75w-85, 75w-90 and "Manual Transmission and Transfer case fluid"

Tremec who makes the transmission says "Dexron III ATF"...

Are people still running Red Line D4 ATF? (70W80)

Any idea what that fluid was? maybe on a receipt or something?

I will try to find out. The shop that did my clutch recommended going back to OEM (GM recommended fluid), but I don't recall hearing/seeing exactly what that was.

I went with Redline last year when I changed mine. I noticed an improvement, but who's to say any fresh fluid change wouldn't have the same results, assuming the correct viscosity was used.

My car also has skip shift eliminator, but I occasionally see the message on the DIC. I mostly notice it when the car has been driven awhile, I never notice it on my 15 mile commute to work. From my research the skip shift eliminator for these cars doesn't remove the message on the DIC. My question is if you have this turned off in the tune does it get rid of the message on the DIC?

It does not turn off the message on the DIC

So my receipt for clutch swap just said "GM transmission fluid". I know they pulled serial number and just looked up that way. It's been a minute, but my recollection is I would want Redline D4 of I was pushing the car often, running higher transmission temps. But for occasional spirited street driving, I may be happier with OEM fluid. I aligned better with OEM setup, sp went that route. Been no issues so far.

Yes it gets rid of it when you tune it out. I've never seen it after having the car tuned.

The Skip shift message comes and goes quick, I at first installed the eliminator and then had it tuned out and remove the eliminator.
Redline D4 still seems to be recommended by a lot of people, I am running Amsoil Sig series at the moment but probably will try the Redline next, I have not heard anything bad about it.

My car must have some kind of aftermarket tune. I drive the car everyday and I've been looking for the 1st to 4th skip shift message but I've never seen it.

Anyone know the best way to figure out what software tuned the car?
Maybe I can get an OBD2 to USB and hook it up to a laptop or something?
Anyone know what software can be used just to read / view the ECM?

The previous owner knows very little about the car, he purchased it from a dealership

Also, anyone have access to Carfax? I should have carfaxed the car before I bought it but I didnt even think about it until I was on the drive to see the car.
