I love my 2LT just fine and it's plenty fast. A couple of aftermarket tweaks will have it playing just fine with 370 Z(ed)s and GT Mustangs as well as older Vettes and Camaros. I got it with the RS package which means the killer 20" wheels and most don't know the difference between the two. If he ever regrets getting the V6, Lingenfelter has a nice force-fed option that will take care of that issue.

In the past I've owned both V6 and still own a V8 Z28 Camaro. My thought are this.
If you can afford the V8 you most likely will not regret it. If you can't really afford it and spread yourself too thin to buy it, you may end up not liking it because it's keeping you broke. My experience has been I loved my V8's long after I forgot how much they actually cost me. Some of my V6's always left me wanting a little more. |

I'm in the same boat. I'm coming from 1992 Firebird 245 HP, and 1994 Firebird 275HP. I'm sure 304 HP will be fine.

I've driven both, and I have to tell you, that V6 is impressive. It has plenty of get up and go, and a much smoother ride than my SS. I got the SS because it is not my daily driver, and I'm a muscle car enthusiast (and a drag racer). Yes...you may get some ribbing from people who think there's no point in buying a musclecar (be it a Camaro, Mustang or Challenger) if it's not a V8, but I'd be willing to bet that it won't come from other Camaro owners. It will most likely be from someone who wishes they had your car.
We have a meet every month or so in our area, and we have both V6 and V8 owners to come and bring their cars, and we all just have a great time together...no hints of one being better than the other. So get what fits your budget and lifestyle. You'll be happy with either choice.

2008 Mustang GT V8= 300 HP...........2010 Camaro V6 = 304 HP and you get 29 MPG to boot. I do not rememebr people saying the Mustang was slow?
Clearly the V8 SS stick is a beast... |

Um... it seems to me that rather than have a friend ask a bunch of people on a web forum which car he would like better, the thing to do would be for your buddy to drive both. Let him feel for himself if the V6 will make him happy or if he just has to have the SS after driving one.
As for me, once I test drove an SS, I ordered it the same day. The feeling of power is just exhilarating. I don't race my SS and I don't drive at excessive speeds, but the reason I love it is because when I'm driving it, everything just feels effortless. I don't know how else to explain it. I love my SS. This is not a dis for V6. A lot of people are happy with theirs. They are great cars and look beautiful. I say you should tell your buddy to drive both and then decide what is right for him. Each car has its virtues. |

When people aske me if I have the V8 and i tell them no it is a 3.6L V6, they start to frown, but when I mention it has 304HP their expression changes and they usually say "Wow 304 HP from a V6, I can see why you don't have to have the V8"
This ain't your fathers old V6 Lumina... This is a V6 Fit for a Camaro!
