I've used K&N filters on other cars and never had an issue with them.

This what i could find for test.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest3.htm

http://www.duramax-diesel.com/spicer/index.htm

looks like they arent far off.. 3% difference.. obvivously if it going to make HP by being freer flowing its going to filter less..
its toss up.. give up some filtering power and make HP or just stick with stock type filters..

Hmm my Halltech came with the S&B Filter. I wonder why they decided to change it?

Supply and demand. K&N can meet the demand.

Woo Hoo! My CAI, Inc should be here tomorrow! That means I'll be able to get it on this weekend.

Ordered a Yellow Jacket from Halltech this morning.

Talked with Jim some this morning about the new K&N filters. I'm confident enough that they will be just fine. I think I'll be in on the first group that gets the Halltech with the new K&N filter. Jim mentioned the first round of K&Ns are going to have a Carbon Fiber end on them. He said the S&B has an open end but the K&N will have a CF end instead of just being open. He said they look real good and he may start reserving them for just the CF units. Only bad thing is they probably won't be ready to ship until the begining of next week. Now it's just a matter of waiting.

Congrats man. I thought I obsessed over purchases, prior to ordering, but I think you have me beat.

You'll be happy with your decision though.

Valid question.

Personally I would go with Halltech (and did). They are about the same for gain but the Halltech has had 0 issues with surging or check engine lights.

It also does not require a battery disconnect during install or 100 miles of driving for the PCM to "learn" the new MAF readings.

The more mods you do to the car the more beneficial the Halltech becomes as well. It is the best on the market IMO.

+1

And i'll add that you can get a Yellowjacket at your door in less than a week. You'd be lucky to see a VR unit in your possession before summer.
