I told my dealer not to install the front license plate bracket on my Camaro & he informed me that they never install front plates on new Camaros or Corvettes sold at their dealership. That made me happy. My Camaro will never, ever see a front NJ license plate. Have not been stopped since I got the car on Feb. 9, 2010.

I don't need another reason to get pulled over. Was pulled over 3 times from my own town to the port auth police going into tunnel because of no plate when I first got car. Now I have the bracket upside down and toggle bolted thru grill so I can remove it and leave no holes. I also have a ezpass mounted to the plate, don't want a windshield ezpass taking up anymore room.

I didnt want to have a front plate because it looked terrible how the dealership installed them but i didnt want to get in any trouble for it so i ended up getting the plate holder from the dealer (which you are supposed to get even if you dont let them put it on) and installing it similarly to the way its done in the thread below. its amazing how much better the front plate looks when its lowered a few inches from where the dealerships install them.

Here's a petition to remove the requirement for a front plate in the state of NY.
http://www.petitiononline.com/NYSFLPR/petition.html

I've been trying to find out the exact law regarding this but haven't found it yet. I"m going to ask some of my cop buddies to look it up for me and I'll post it. I do recall reading somewhere that having the plate on the dashboard was sufficient.

I like the idea of keeping it in the passenger seat back! So for now I'm going plateless, because I hate the idea of putting anything on the front of this gorgeous car. I do like the stow-n-go but I hate the look of having an offset plate. If they could figure out how to put it in the middle that might work, but it'll get scratched to hell on driveway aprons anyway.
