I drove a cobalt ss for a year and a half before my camaro, front plate in the trunk from day 1. A week before I took delivery of my camaro I drove right into a sticker check and forgot all about the plate. They wrote me even though I said it fell off and was in the trunk. I didnt even bother getting a fake receipt figuring how much could it cost. I sent it in guilty and traded the car in for my camaro, a few days later I get a response...$180.00! So after driving the camaro a few days without a front plate I decided it wasnt worth the gamble. I too put it in the lower grille, had to shorten the plate and tie wrap it in. doesnt look bad and no holes drilled.

Guess you should have listened. Haha.

Well that may catch up to you... depends a lot on when you're driving too. If at night you're more likely to get pulled over as there's less traffic and it's more noticeable. In dense traffic a cop wont fight through other cars to get to you as there's likely another violator of some sort coming by right behind you.

That's not a proper mounting of the plate and you will still get a ticket if they want to issue you one. So that's not going to do you any good.

As for...

... awesome. Not only that but if you get pulled over you pop it up real quick and go, "Officer I have no idea what you're talking about, go look it's there". Might not want a chrome holder though, something more subdued so they might second guess themselves. HAHA. Or, just keep it up and not get pulled over to begin with.

For me, I'm probably going to go with that setup or something similar. I don't want to drill any holes into the front of my car like I did for my Jeep. It just looks ugly like that (if there isn't a plate mount already). What I'll probably do is use the existing mount in my trunk and set it up to have a system like that one above that slides out.

No offense to you but dealers are full of crap, IT IS a state law here in NJ and when i told my dealer not to put it on, they didnt put it on, actually they told me that on the Camaros and Vettes they don't put it on anyway even if the customer doesn't mind....they let the customer do it when he takes delivery or they do it for the customer when they ask. Dealers are full of BS

We don't get plates at the dealership so they wont ever put that holder on. They did throw mine in my trunk though and gave me my little paper temporary tag to put in the back (which is also not technically legal to have it there).

For the people that put it in the lower grill, do you know if it will work for the V6. I though for the most part only the mail slot was the only difference in the front but it seems like i only see people with SS that have either made a bracket or bought one.

Ive got a friend that just got pulled over in his truck for not having a plate in the front and he got a $75 ticket because the officer said there were predrilled holes. He said if he didnt already have the holes he wouldnt have gotten a ticket but im pretty sure that wouldnt have mattered.

I got pulled over in my 95 Camaro for no plate by Ohio State Patrol and he gave me a warning even though there was no bracket and i had to drill holes to put it there so i would call BS on my friend but thats what he swears the City cop that pulled him over that said.

Me too! In Ohio we are required to have 2 plates and this was my solution. I bought it at Summit Racing

I bought a cheap plastic license plate bracket at WalMart and zip tied it to the lower grill on the driver's side. It's not the best look, but I didn't have to drill any holes, so if I want to take it off, there's no marks.

I bought the machined one reference on the Forum made by a Camaro5 member up in Canada. Installed on the lower grill nicely. Then went to a machine shop and had them make a sheet metal plate back since the one made by the guy in Canada only has bottom screws. Guy did a GREAT job on the backing and then was able to add nice Chrome Camaro SS front plate bracket. Thing is very sturdy and my plate no longer gets any bending when in car washes, etc.

I spent a grand total of $155.00 on the whole thing and can't tell you how happy I am with it! Still makes me made to see dealers putting the cheap plastic crap on the front of their show room Camaro's. I'm pushing to get their parts department to buy a few or at least refer people to me so I can tell them how to get it done without holes.

Appears Nebraska may be passing a law requiring only one plate and I will be one of the happy ones who can proudly take the whole darn thing off, or leave it on a put a nice chrome Camaro SS plate in front for some decoration if I want....but I will have a choice! Down with holes in the car...revolt against the dealers who are destroying our Camaro's!!!

Pretty sure the one I installed would work on a V6. There are a few steps and some cash involved, but a heck of a lot cheaper than filling in holes or replacing a front end when the state changes the law, you move to a state that doesn't require a front plate, or you sell the car.

I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars for about 10 years now. I only twice been pulled over for it and once was given a fix it ticket. Which I just used a couple of nails in the holes and put the plate "on" when I was in the parking lot at the State Patrol. THey came and looked and all was fine. I took it right off and drove off. This was on a Mustang I owned which I use to have a front plate on it so the holes were still there. Someone on the forums posted a way to put your front plate on without using any holes in the bumper, but I think it was just for a temp holder for like an inspection.
