But this was done with traction control off on the mustang/camaro. So by default (without traction control) the traction might be worse on the camaro. With traction control on this delta is negated or greatly subduded. Its just a fun test, I wouldnt get too worked up over it.

WOW did you see his face when driving the Camaro he was grinning from ear to ear like he didnt want to get out. His face didn't look like that in the Mustang or Challenger. That right there along tells you which car brings the most enjoyment.

For the love of god. Some of you can complicate a cup of coffee. The Camaro performs better in a burnout test b/c it has more torque, end of discussion. It doesn't mean it lacks traction....

It really has been getting dense lately....

Going to have to disagree with you on that one.
Go back and read his comment he says TQ and HP and yes that along makes the difference the camaro has 30 TQ higher then the stang and 20 TQ higher then the challenger, thats the difference right there. Because its the TQ thats spinning the tires not the HP.

My Camaro hooks better than any stock tired Mustang I'v ever owned...there is a difference in trying to break traction and trying to get down the track the fastest....if you mat the gas and dump the clutch in first and then short shift into second with the tires still spinning hard the completely break loose in second...here is where the LS3s nice TQ curve the high 2nd gear wheel speed vs ground speed really comes into play and...this test DOES not make the car look bad or IMO suggest that it doesn't hook as good as the other 2...there is alo more that simply "bad traction" at work when TRYING to spin the tires. Notice they only went 40 odd ft in 1st on the Camaro before shifting...probably didn't show the run where he tried to ride out 1st and the rev limiter shut him down hard, whereas on the other 2 cars he could bounce the limiter until they had finished spinning in 1st...the owners of the other 2 cars will cry foul because he didn't short shift those cars..and rightly so...Camaro likely would have still won,but I bet the other 2 would have done better if the same technique was used.

The 1/4 mile difference is easy to explain. The Camaro weighs more with about the same power. Its slower.

I know the R/T is the direct competitor to the SS/GT, but it doesn't really compete. So I would allow the SRT8 as it would be a better comparison. Just my opinion.

What I meant by the 1/4 mile comment was simply this, the Mustang hooked up, quit smoking the tires well under 100ft, while the Camaro was still roasting them quite a bit over 200ft. So, and this is just my opinion/observation, it would seem like a Mustang can finally hook up and apply all it's power sooner then the Camaro. So who wins that drag race, weight aside? Now this is just manual cars, rev and dumping like most normal people would do. In short, hooking up 140 or so feet quicker will allow the Mustang to drive away from the tire roasting Camaro, would it not?

So, while we might lose the drag race, we'll put on a better tire smoking show!!

Ah this makes me laugh..in a good way.

Looks like fun, but this could be twisted around to be

"Camaro takes first, Dodge second and Mustang third in lack of grip!!"

But who cares, it looked awesome because it was awesome.

LOL What a cool faceoff idea.

Did anyone notice Camaro was the only one that had the driver grinning? All performance numbers aside, that's a win right there.

Great post!
