Comparing a SS Camaro to a GT500 isnt exactly fair. The GT500 may have traction issues..but in a stock for stock comparison? If the GT500 hooks up well and runs..it'll take a Camaro apart with contemptible ease.

GT500's are low 12 second cars when they hook up well, if not high 11's. Stock for stock the SS's are way out of their league with the GT500. CTS-V vs. GT500 is a more fair comparison.

Or just do what JEFF2010SSMANUA suggested. Spend 10K on a supercharger and you are good to go.

If you take price out of the equation, the top available camaro and the top available mustang is a pretty fair comparison by trim level.

top camaro: SS
top mustang: gt500

I also think the top challenger should be in the mix too.
technically speaking in trims of car NOT PRICE.

I like how the words "if" and "when" are always used when discussing how well a GT500 hooks up. I am also tired of hearing about how this years new fix is going to "finally" remedy the problem. New sticky tires aren't going to fix a poorly designed rear suspension. Ford needs to redesign the rear suspension to make the car competent.

i always thought cracked forged was better than just traditional forged since they mate up better at the journal.

anyways theyre forged. The LS3 rods from what ive read are powdered metal so theyre not the same from what i gather.

In that case I would get a ZR1 and smoke you.

I like cars with back seats, a Corvette to ME is just a track racer.

I could have bought a Corvette but I really don't care for them.

it's funny how an incompetent rear end outhandles such a stellar piece from GM. who knew?

Yep, there is nothing wrong with the rear suspension in the GT or GT500. Take a look at the skidpad numbers.

That poorly designed suspension sure is handling pretty well.
have you read any reviews on it?

Ahem....don't forget about the limitations of what loads you can put on those halfshafts. Were there not a few failures already in the stock SS cars?

Ford is giving it a good shot anyway. The 2011 is 104 lbs lighter than the 2010..coming in at 3820 (vs 3860 for the SS) and HP is up 10...to 550. Most of the weight reduction is from the all aluminum V8, which also solves the nose heavy issue of the 2010.

As much as I love the Camaro, with the wife complaining about supporting GM, I may be driving the GT500 next spring instead.

Tell the wife to shut up about supporting GM. The taxpayer invested a lot of money in GM to not want people to support them now.
