Claying will definitely help clean out the chip but maybe you need to also wait a little longer for the touch-up paint to adhere. I have also found that doing multiple layers into the chip is a lot better than doing one big blob. That's another thing that you may have to consider.

Ok, so layer it before even trying the blob eliminator? Do you usually wait 24 hours between layers of touch up paint?

YES.

And there lies the downside of the Lankga kit. That is why I say that it could take weeks to repair a chip if it is deep. You'll be applying touch up paint for a while, just to build the spot up to the level of the surrounding area.

It's still safer than sand paper, and those scratch marks you're making will easily buff out.

Awesome, thanks for the tips Junkman. I hope you're having some awesome BBQ for Memorial Day in honor of our fallen comrades. I'll be filling in paint chips!

for a good thread.

2LTRS, if I don't want to buy the langka system, I can use a credit card and a t shirt to do what you did-- but what did you put on the t-shirt? you didn't say. Was that wax you used to remove the blob?

TIA

Great video. I now get how to fix the chips on the car. But my true question is what about the doors, the corner part of the doors. When some moron opens the door and it scraps up against a wall etc... Any tips for that?

Is this still the best way/product to fill paint chips or is there anything more recent that's better?

Here's my chip at 10X, actual size is ~1/16". Ive started filling by just touching the chip with a toothpick dipped in t/u paint, pushing the paint in with my finger then gently rubbing the excess from the undamaged paint with my fingernail. I'm trying to build up layers this way. It looked more like two separate chips when I started, so it's getting better but I'm still not happy with it.
