Awesome news!!! Glad to know I bought one of the originals in Oct 2008 preorder for '09. I made the right choice. Of course, I've been a Camaro owner personally for the past 20+ years. NEVER owned anything else, so why would I change it now?

I'm glad to know Camaro has outsold the competition. I feel proud to be its owner.

Mustang numbers might be down because of the impending release of the 2011 Mustangs. However I think for a lot of car buyers the fact that the mustang has newer engines means little. Many of my friends (who I steer towards a Mustang so I alone will have a Camaro muhahaha) still think of the new Mustang as the same car introduced over 5 years ago and despite all the new bits it is starting to get long in the tooth. I think the mustang is going to have a hard time matching the Camaro's 10K per month clip.

Slightly off with that figure, so I threw some of the averages together:

13 months (April '09 thru April '10)

Camaro - 7028/mo. (note April '09 was first month of release 2010 MY)
Mustang - 5970/mo.
Challenger - 2169/mo.




12 months (May '09 thru April '10)

Camaro - 7563/mo.
Mustang - 5826/mo. (note: April '10 was first month of release 2011 MY)
Challenger - 2132/mo.


Results: For the first full 12 month period, the Mustang + Challenger have outsold the Camaro by only 395 units per month. (2 vs. 1)

I know this is very skewed due to the 8 year hiatus the Camaro took, but it definately says GM did it right with the 5th Gen!!!

I think as long as Chrysler sells full sized trucks they will have a V8 they can put into some of it's cars if need be.

Though the 2011 Mustang is an improvement over the 2010, the HP numbers weren't able to surpass the Camaro's. Remember the V6 was re-rated so now it's higher, and the GT did not surpass the SS M6.

Nothing to do with current body styles, but I see Mustangs 5 to 1 versus Camaros on the road. They are like a Honda, everyone has one.

And now Camaro will soon be like that too (everyone has one). So are you for that, or against that? I'm not sure.

By the way, where I live I don't see many Mustangs (2005+) on the road any more. Drive along and just count - I see many more of every other car out there (maybe 300?) for every Mustang. You may think it's "common" because they stand out, but if you actually count them they are so few compared with other cars like Hondas, Toyotas, family sedans, trucks, mini-vans and so on. Even sports cars - I see about 10 "sporty cars" for every Mustang. Many more Accord Coupes, Altima Coupes, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Tiburon, Miatas, RX-8s etc.
