I do it with every fill up, along with the Trip meter so I can run the numbers the old fashioned way and the DIC is always right on.

i would never reset mine in my cobalt or silverado. it would stay on the avg for example the cobalt was at 24 mpg. no matter what i did.

if i reset it, and gun it like i normally did, it would show 20 or conserved at 28

maybe it was me then.. i dunno. my right foots a little heavier then my left.

kinda off topic...but is it true if you drive with the windows down the extra drag causes your gas mileage to go down??

And what about driving with the A/C on?

I have seen quite a few studies, that confirmed that a car uses less fuel with the A/C on at highway speeds, as compared to the same vehicle traveling with the windows down and A/C off. The open windows create more drag than does the compressor and that decreases mpg. In city driving it definitely uses more fuel with the A/C on.

Quote:
The A/C can lower the fuel efficiency from 10 to 20 percent depending on the type (and age) of your vehicle. Using the air conditioning does require your vehicle to burn more fuel, but it is more efficient than driving with the windows down. Putting the windows down is not a good idea. Putting the windows down tends to increase drag on most cars, canceling out any measurable gain from turning the A/C off. The increased drag of the car means your vehicle will have to work harder, because of the change in the aerodynamics. Therefore, open windows cause your car to burn more fuel.

If your considering fuel economy, it is okay to use your vehicle’s air conditioning. Yet, it should be used sensibly. If you’re driving around town, or in city traffic, then you’re better off leaving your windows open. For highway driving, roll the windows up and turn the air conditioning on. It’s advisable to roll the windows down for city driving, because speeds lower than 30 - 40 mph vehicles consume less fuel, then using the A/C at those speeds. Using the A/C at highway speed has no appreciable effect on fuel economy compared to rolling down the windows.

Im happier than a pig in chit!! I get on average 14.5 in town with "spirited" driving on my 2SS. Then again, I traded in a H2 Hummer that I was getting 9 mpg out of!! My gas bill has been cut in half! I dont bitch at all........

I don't care about what mileage my awesome Camaro 2SSRS with longtube Headers and Corsa Exhaust gets, I would have got the V6 if I cared about the gas mileage.
