So you have to go slower. If you can't tolerate going slow, you shouldn't be towing anyway!

Towing priorities are in this order:

1. Safety -- ...
2. Legality -- ...
3. Insurance -- ...
4. Durability -- ...
5. Forward traction -- RWD + limited slip diff == win. Every try dragging a boat up a dirt ramp with FWD? I did, with a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am and a boat that I forgot to unstrap from the trailer. Luckily, a nice passerby used his truck to drag me out.
...
Indeed, don't worry, i'm well educated on towing, and saftey. This ain't my first time!

I'm not too sure on the towing with the camaro, why not sell the cobalt and caprice and buy a nice little pickup?
I'm a car guy, i can't scream up/down an off ramp, or around the street with any kind of truck like i can with the Cobalt. And fuel is an issue with just myself and 2+ vehicles, cars work much better for my situation. All around.
And yes, thanks for helping clean things up, some peoples opinion gets right in the way, some of us still think things through first. It comes with time i guess...

I'm quite surprised that of all the apparent Physics majors we have on this forum, no one would have posted an in depth analysis of why it can or cannot be done.

I for one say...its your car, if you want to tow somehting with it and it doesn't put you or anyone else on the road at risk, go for it. The bottom line is you would be using the car for YOUR enjoyment.

Haha, that is probably why...

And i know its my car i can do what i want, and yea, i wont jeapordize someone elses safety because i want to tow something. Hence me asking if anyone heard anything on towing yet. Its not even something i've commited to yet, just weighing my options. If i do it, it'll cost a few bucks to get the diffuser rear end customized with a hitch cover in it (ie: GMT-900 Tahoe/Suburban hitch covers). I'm not going to half ass anything.

^^

if it works for you and you can enjoy both the boat and the seadoo, then go for it. But, you may have to wait to find a hitch that'll fit.

Methinks you might forget the excitement of the Cobalt after you have the Camaro...

I wouldn't be surprised if most G8 hitches will work on this. And I believe a G8 does have a 2000lb recommended tow rating.

It may look wierd, but I don't think a single Sea Doo would be an issue at all.

I will be putting a hitch on my 2LT as soon as I can find one / make one. I ride bikes alot. I can't see putting a strap on bike carrier on my Camaro. I know, a roof top carrier. NOT! I already have a bike carrier than mounts in a reciver hitch, this way the bikes never come close to the car.

Put a hitch on it if that is what you need just make sure it can handle the load and don't think you will have any problum with that at all.

In Australia it is quite common to see the Holden Commodore towing. They make three tow kits which can be ordered and shipped to the USA for the sister car (drum roll please) the Pontiac G8 GT !!!

The G8 GT was constructed with the rear end and transmission set up for towing. If anybody wants to see or buy one of the three kits let me know, I have a contact down under. I'm also selling my 2008 G8 GT with only 4900 miles...

DIRECT QUOTE HOLDEN PARTS:

http://www.holden.com.au/products-an...es/accessories

Holden provides a full range of towing equipment to suit your needs. The 2100kg towing kit is available with a range of accessories to suit every requirement. Only Holden approved tow bars are designed specifically for your vehicle, and are covered by Holden's warranty. Price quoted includes towbar, tongue, wiring harness and equaliser hitch. Mandated brake equipment requirements apply when trailer loads exceed 750kg, please refer to Owner's Handbook for further information. Mandated load distribution equipment requirements apply when trailer loads exceed 1600kgs. Available only on vehicles with automatic transmission.

In the Camaro brochure they are rated for 1,000 lbs, tongue load is usually 10% of the total. I am just not sure how you are going to get a hitch on the back of it without trashing the look.

As far as power. This car has enough torque to pull a 10,000 lb trailer.

Stole my question!

But, in order to retire the Caprice, my Camaro (or Cobalt) must be able to tow my Sea Doo, in and out of the water (and of course on the highway). The Caprice handles this task, and my family's other boats no problem, and the Cobalt is not recommended for towing (and i won't either with it). So that leaves only the Camaro. I know Corvettes have had custom set ups to tow boats before, and Camaros of the past as well.

So my question arises, has Chevy released any information regarding trailering capabilities yet? Or am i jumping the gun a little soon?

I plan on getting a 2012 SS/RS, and to my knowledge and understanding, the engine and chassis should be able to handle the tiny little 550 kg Sea Doo. The bigger boats i can leave to my parents vehicles.

A search of the site revealed nothing, so i turn to my fellow enthusiasts in hopes i missed something, or someone has a sharper eye then I.
I imagine i can't be the only one wondering if we can tow something with this car?
No disrespect but I was going to ask about a towing package weeks ago just for laughs and to see everyones reaction. PLEASE don't do it! BUY a TRUCK or else you could...........
