You build an LSx more to support that level of power than make it.
The factory block has its limits 1000rwhp through an auto is definately pushing the limit on the factory block...It won't last long.. Thats what the LSx is made for Quote:

While the LS3 is a great block and can handle some power I would never want to put over 1200FWHP through it. The LSX block is capable for 2000hp. You always want a safety margin for cushion. I dont know about the owner of this car but I dont have the money to do a motor combo like that making that much power and just HOPE it holds together. Believe me at that power level he would do alot of hopeing and praying a stock LS3 block would live. It would for sure be on borrowed time. Not to mention LS7 or LSX six bolt heads flow way more than anything offered by a LS3 casting so its easier to make power with them. The Ls3 heads and block dont have the 6 bolt clamping force either so you could very well lift the heads at high boost. He did it just the way I would have and I give him 2 thumbs up.

I don't think of it as NOT being impressed with your numbers. Hell 1000+whp is a impressive number for just about anything. I think it would make the masses much more excited to see someone do it with the OEM block and heads. Even if you changed all the rotating parts out, bored, and ported everything, it would still be a 10 Camaro engine. Does that make sense?

At the same time, as I've said before, TS, you have a cool car!!! I have more and more respect for Pro Chargers every day. They just make such clean power. |

Just like other power adders - everyone has its own unique characteristics, and for gobs of mid-to-high rpm power, Prochargers can crank.

axis that is exactly what I was trying to say but you said it better. I think his camaro is F@$ing sick but its not the original engine. that is all i was saying.
so where do you draw the line. I think if i pulled out my engine I would for sure drop a big block in there.

But say even if you kept the ls3 block in the car and added some sort of power adder? wouldnt adding a supercharger or turbo make it different than what GM had the car come with? would it still be a true 2010 Camaro? In my mind it would be. I guess in some one elses it might not. This is were the line starts to become real grey and fuzzy and is exactly how racing classes are made and rules followed. In a way it all comes down to opinion until a governing body votes and rules are made. IMO a LS based motor in a 2010 Camaro is still a Camaro. Just like the 4th gens the 5th gens are going to have all types of subtitles. Fastest NA in the world. Fastest stock shortblock in the world. Fastest stock shortblock NA in the world and the list goes on and on but right now he can say fastest in the world period. Maybe later he will have to say fastest LS based motor with stock rear end type and trans type. lol
