COPO cannot happen in this day and age. The COPO system worked when there were no emissions or fuel economy standards.

I don't mean to belittle - but if someone from GM actually told you that, I'd like their name, please.
Well.... The man has spoken!

I doubt it would happen as well- too much cookie cutter corporate mentality in the automotive world, mostly due to Govt. restrictions.

By the way, fbodfather basically just threw gas on the fire, as most people know Elvis is still alive, so I'll be expecting him to deliver my COPO.

The cost of emissions testing for an engine trans combo is multi millions of dollars.

Seems not likely to me!

Don't think so... General Motors would have to certify the vehicle (engine/powertrain) for sale in each vehicle it's offered in - that is why you don't see anything but the L99 and LS3 from GM right now in Camaros...

The days of C.O.P.O are gone (at least as it pertains to muscle cars). One can go to a select Chevrolet dealer and buy a Callaway SC572 Camaro - which would have been drop shipped from the factory to Callaway's shop(s), then sent to the dealer for either inventory or delivery to the customer.

Those cars carry a supplemental warranty for the powertrain from Callaway for 3/36 w. an opt. 5/100 ext.

From what I have seen in the industry, two things stand out - the Callaway warranty is peerless, nobody comes close! That, and GM does not warranty any other conversions - contrary to what I have read on the forums...

So I guess that's what they will be doing for the SLP versions...

Doing what?

The SLP Camaros are not tested by General Motors. SLP is an independent company and as such, not subject to the constraints of the actual manufacturer (GM).

Nickey started performing Camaro, 427 engine conversions in late 1966 and we are still building them today. While they are NOT emmisions legal, they sure are a lot of fun
