It just doesn't have that "ring" to it. Everyone knows who makes the Camaro and Corvette anyway. No one ever says "Oh, I drive a Chevrolet Camaro or Chevrolet Corvette, or Chevy Camaro or Chevy Corvette". THE BOWTIE SAYS IT ALL! 'Nuff said!

However Chevy is easier to say than Chevrolet. I'm proud to drive a Chevy or Chevrolet!

GM can kiss my ass. I will say Chevy as long as I own one and as long as they exist.

Chevy

I cannot imagine a native born American who does not know that Chevy & Chevrolet are the same thing. I hope it truly was only an internal marketing thing. That I understand. If it was an attempt to get the general public to drop "Chevy" ...Good luck getting Americans to have anyone dictate to them what they say or call anything. (A little thing called Freedom of Speech). I love my Chevy Camaro.

No need to panic.
But according to your avatar, we need to be scared

I think redneck mullet heads started using the term chevy because they couldn't spell chevrolet. I can't think of another brand that uses more than one name other than chevrolet.

I understand why they are doing it, but I feel they should embrace the Chevy.

When I was a little kid my Dad drove a Chevy. It wasn't until I was a little older that I realized Chevy and Chevrolet were the same thing. I thought that maybe they were connected, but I didn't know it was the same. To me Chevy was the name, and still to this day I go to Chevy.com and not Chevrolet.com. This is most likely why they want to change it. Also searching for Chevy/Chevrolet parts and/or memorabilia is a pain on Ebay as you have to search twice.

None of the other Detroit car companies have such a nickname. You give your friends nicknames. That is why it should be embraced.

Poorly worded Memo.... Most Certainly - However, GM folks, I would encourage you to not turn your back on CHEVY there is a lot of equity in that word. Internally or externally, it means a heck of a lot to many, many people.

Latest Memo:
