I'm sorry, I'm not ready to drop 100k+ on a sports car....it's called priorities, maybe a house, but a car,....no. ZR1 is a dream, but when I think of it's gas mileage, the dream quickly becomes a nightmare. I'd be so tempted in every situation to floor that thing until it's not even funny. I'd practically live at the pump.

You still haven't answered the big question. Are you gonna race this car at the track 70 to 80 percent of the time. Because if you aren't why the hell you so worried about weight and performance? But are just as fun regardless of the weight. You should only worry about that if you are racing. Hell like others have said you can mod and have the camaro making a stock vette look silly. I know I have with my 05 GTO and total money into that car still comes in lower then a vette.
No, I'm not going to race the car 70-80 percent of the time, I'm going to race it but not most of the time. I'm worried about performance per say because it's what I want, and I really admire a great performance car whether I'm racing it or not; just knowing what it's capable of if I floor that pedal makes me all tingly inside.

I'm going to stick to my Camaro SS though. I'm just going to research and drop some nice money on mods accordingly,...keeping a stock vett in mind.

Ok... Let me help you out here.. I'm not a gray haired middle aged man.. OK middle aged... I've had a few Camaros and Trans Ams over the years and I've had two Corvettes, one was a C4 1996, which I sold several years back, and still have the 2004 Corvette CE. I always wanted a Corvette when I had my Camaros in the past.. Now that I have one and I see a SS pass by it reminds me of my high school and college days and the look of the car is just pure Muscle. That is the reason my wife drives the Corvette and I'm getting a SS.
As far as the offer of $4000 over what you paid for your camaro for trade.. They can't give Corvettes away right now. production is down by more than half, last year they only made 14,000 and normal is around 35,000 plus. There are big mark ups in Corvette. Example when I bought my Corvette new in 2004 I got right at $12,000.00 off stick and I DID NOT trade anything I took them a check and drove off with the car. Back then the Corvette 2004 CE listed for 49,900 I bought it for 38,100.00. I would say they are telling him they are giving him more then he paid for his Camaro but hiding the dollars in the Corvette. Old numbers game. The dealer I'm buying my SS from had 4 Corvettes in inventory, I went back a week after ordering mine and all were gone. I asked if he had a big sale that I missed on Corvettes and he said NO I traded them to another dealer we had them for over 90 days and couldn't move them.

Another point. Corvette C6 is old news it has run its life cycle and it is time for the C7 to come out. You would be driving an old body style you just bought when the C7 comes out in a year or so. The Camaro is the cutting edge of style right now
This^!!
I have no reason to "make up" something the dealer told me once I when in and got the car appraised, it's simply what they told me. They said my car looks better than showroom floor condition; they even asked if I drive the thing. But what I told them is, I've been cleaning it once a day since the day I bought it. 30 minutes a day with Adams detail spray or waterless wash, goes a long way. And since I've got some nice wax on there, it looks amazing.

I never didn't immediately pull the trigger on getting the Vett just because they agreed to give me more for my car than what I paid. I'm just going to stick with my Camaro. I think the design is more appealing.

Wiping it down at 2 AM? That's dedication.

Vettes are great..but think of it this way. You've done so well that a 5th gen Camaro is your first car. Why don't you get to know the car itself a little better, mod it a bit, have fun with it, get a history going with it and always have a C6 Z06 or ZR1 as that car that you're working towards...while enjoying the heck out of your Camaro!

Most importantly do what your gut tells you will make you happy. You only live once.
LoL. Yes, I clean my car at least once a day,I got home at 5pm and was so exhausted and never got around to cleaning it for the end of the day, so once I got done with the girlfriend, 2am was the perfect time, and it was peaceful so I went out to the garage and cleaned it up. Took away all of the dust and ect. Looks immaculate again.

For what you pay for a 'vette, I'd rather have a GT500.

I just thought I would say that since you hear the exact opposite all the time when a thread about a GT500 pops up.

If there was a track near me that I could make some left AND right turns on every once in a while I'd be all over a vette.

seems to me though that the camaro is a better day to day car. and IMO looks better, that's why I have one in my driveway

If you don't need the back seats and aren't concerned with "standing out" for awhile...The Corvette is the performance leader.

Sure, people have sold their Corvettes to buy Camaros...but I've seen guys getting out of the new Camaro to get into a Corvette.

The reason Corvette sales are down is the fact that Corvettes are typically seen as "discretionary" cars and as such many people find it hard to justify the purchase during bad economic times. The Camaro, with four seats is much easier to justify as "practical" and it was also gone from the scene for 8 years...so there is much more pent up demand.

Yup,....you almost opened a can of worms! Don't say "for the money you pay for x you can buy z", the Camaro owners would come out of the wood-work fist swinging to defend a Chevy purchase.

Nope, I don't need the back seats but I am concerned with standing out, I don't want to look just like everyone else. Which is why I got limo-tint on my Camaro all around. It gives the car a more distinctive look, and when you put some great wax on the car, it gives the car a shine you don't find even on new cars.

Despite the economy, I think one could justify the purchase of a vett at 50k if your note is affordable for you. If the note is way high and your going broke "just to have" the thing I wouldn't justifying buying a Vett. With any purchase you make, your note should be comfortable for you, meaning at the end of the month it doesn't give you a headache or have you at the gas pump making "life decisions". "Should I fill this tank up, or spend that 10 dollars on food"?!

Couldn't disagree even more with you. Most of the Camaros sold are V8's, over 80% that have been sold are V8's. Most are second cars and not everyday cars. Especially in regions like the Midwest and east coast and parts of the plain states that have cold winters, these cars aren't being driven. Vette sales are down because of the design of the car, plain and simple. The car has barely changed in 10 years, thats the reason the Camaro went away eight years ago was because of the sales do to the body model being way over used.

Not saying your making it up, just say they are not telling you the truth on your trade... Old sales tactic. Tell them their car is worth more then gold and not take as much off the new car.

Think about it.
1. How much below sticker did you buy the car for?

I have a GM PIN to buy at Supplier cost which is about $250.00 Below Invoice.. I'm buying the car for around $2500.00 off sticker..

So your trying to tell me that if you bought it for invoice they are going to give you 2,000 more then sticker on trade OR are you trying to tell me you bought the car for more then $4000.00 off sticker because why would a dealer give you more then sticker for a used Camaro.. Give me some numbers that would make some sense Right now I'm lost because no dealer gives 4000.00 more then you pay for a car unless they made a VERY big mistake when it was sold...

NO no no, I do NOT despise you at all I meant people who act like they are better then you just because what they own is a bit nicer then what you own. That's like if we drove around slamming Colbat drivers. Were all in the same family

I love Vettes as well, they are sexy! WAY out of my price range though. I've been hearing the new Corvette is going to dish out over 700hp. That true? The 5th gen camaro is the only car that got me to say WOW! I fell in love with it when I seen Transformers and saw that beast roll in. I looked at my friend and said "I'm gonna buy one of those!" He even brought that up when he went for his first ride in it.

My god there's like 80 pages of writing on this thread.

Do what you want OP.

I'd personally keep the camaro and then buy a corvette when I could afford one --- then i'd have a camaro and corvette in my garage.
