So far (fingers, legs, toes crossed!) all I've done is rub off a little paint off the very end of the drivers side door from it accidentally touching my garage wall. I touched it up with the GM paint and it looks great again....too bad I managed to spill most of the rest of the little (expensive) bottle of paint all over the ground. ugh

I got some evidance that supports the getting hit in the driveway theory...

Check this... saw it coming in just a while ago. See the tire tracks in the sand and there is an impression in the grass!

This tells me that a car was driving by, most likely a drunk driver, who veered off the roadway and into your car. It's more likely they were going from (looking at your house) right to left and they glanced off your car. I'd begin looking around at cars in your neighborhood with right from quarter panel damage and paint transfer. Drunks get lost...and they will drive around stupidly. I wouldn't doubt it for one second that's what it was. Drive around and look...you just might find something. When you do, get a voice recorder and go contact them. See what they say. Then get the PD involved...have them come out and talk to them too.

I have people in my square who don't give a crap about accidents. Old people who "don't have the time." They say, "that's what insurance is for" and leave the scene...except they don't realize that their insurance is supposed to pay for both vehicles and if they don't give the other driver their information, the other driver can't get their vehicle fixed...which classifies as "failure to stop and give info acc over $200 damage."

Anyway...go drive around.

As much as I hate to say it, no one is going to do a casting of a tire mark for a hit and run accident where no felony occurred. If there is no dead person, no severely injured person, or this is not of a larger part of a crime, then no dept would spend that type of money to do a cast/impression and then begin to search for the tire that did it. Unfortunately, I think it might have been either a drop off after the bar closed or the local who already got the car out of the development because I looked....

And, my suspicions regarding the paper carrier were dispelled this evening when, at the bequest of her boss, the carrier came by with her van to prove there was no damage.... So, looks like I'm pretty much stuck with the bill for someone else's mistake!

Sorry to hear about this! People hit your stuff and flee the scene without a note. People fling open their doors with no regard. I know I was at a Walmart early May and I parked in the very back with few other cars around. As I made my approach ther was a black Honda Accord parked next to me and the female inside flung her door open and I mean my heart sunk as I saw it heading for my passenger side door. It fell 2" short of contact and I was already fired up to pull her ass out and do the Naptown Stomp had it made contact!
I'm at the point that if we take a harder stance on this kinda stuff, people will start to have more respect for other peoples property. I here by propose PUBLIC CANINGS or flogging!
