there is a difference between fully forged and coated.
You're absolutely right. I should have worded that differently. The displacement is still 4.6 as they didn't start putting the 5.4 in the Cobras until the later S197 versions. The Terminator engine is in no way the same as the one found in the GT's of that time period though. The internals were forged, not coated and Ford used an iron block rather than the aluminum block that was going into the GT's. The compression ratio was very mega-boost friendly as well at 8.5:1.

And we are still comparing stock GT500s against the Camaro which is honestly more than mildly modified.
SS is 3860 full tank (1ss a bit less). According to ford the 2011 GT500 is 3820 or so (cant remember) full tank.

GT500 makes ~480rwhp. His ls3 530rwhp.

Funny how no one cares about the torque curve when comparing the ls3 to the 5.0. But now we are talking gt500 vs camaro and the torque curve wins it with 50 less horsepower? give me a break guys.

His car has a 50 hp advantage and they are equal weight. I know their are other factors. But youve got to be kidding me if you think 50hp isnt enough to overcome this...

So what does the camaro need to overcome this magical machine? 600rwhp? My god why would anyone even buy this piece of crap.

Once again not surprised though....camaro gets no respect.

And yes...I guess we are comparing a modded car that starts at ~30k to a stock one that starts at ~50k. I guess we could compare them stock for stock...but damn that doesnt look good for the camaro .

The comparison between the 500 and the camaro isnt really fair no matter which way you cut it. IF the camaro is modded it isnt fair...if the 500 and maro are stock it isnt a very good comparison because the cars are 20k apart....it is what it is.

True...and this is always a factor. Comparing different dynos is stupid...but this is the only info I have.

I searched for 2011GT500 dynos and found 470-480rwhp as the norm. I have seen ls3's dyno 520-530 before so I guess I can believe his dyno as being accurate. HIs cam is large enough for it.

I guess it is hard to swallow that someone could buy a 5th gen for ~30k, keep it NA and spend ~6k on h/c/bolt ons, likely beating the fastest car in fords lineup with a supercharger and a ~50k price tag?

Nothing that a few bolt-ons can't cure for the GT500.

I have two friend's with GT500s. One makes 586rwhp while still retaining warranty from Ford. Another makes 826rwhp, no warranty to speak of lol.

The 2011 GT500 weighs around 3805 lbs. Still not enough of a weight difference to compensate for the extra hp the Camaro is making. I don't see why it would be so difficult for the Camaro to have the advantage and I don't see where ULTRAZLS1 is off base at all......

Yes the Camaro in the op has the advantage. You are talking a stock car vs a car with internal motor work.

And a car that costs 50k and has a supercharger vs one that costs 30k and is NA.

Like I said....no matter how you compare them it isnt going to be fair.

I would love to own one.

Their is a 2011 GT500 at a local dealership on my way to work.

I have thought about stopping in and seeing what they would offer me with a trade in for my camaro and everything.

I would probably get raped and I really need to start saving for a house. I have resisted so far.
I still think they are too expensive, as most cars are nowadays.

But they are very nice for the money.

I would just mod the camaro if I was you.

Not really impressed dude. If you are proud that a maxxed out and frankensteined SS can barely edge out a bone stock GT500, ..... that's yours to pitch...... Good luck with that......LMAO

Thats your pitch?
Off the shelf h/c packages anyone can buy on pump gas is maxxed out and frankensteined? OK man. And btw...it is still NA. I guess you arent allowed to put a supercharger on a camaro either?

Orangechevy went 11.3 @ 121-122 with cam only (and supporting mods obviously, a tire, exhaust etc). Is that Frankensteined also?

Heres news for you...plenty of lsx's have over 100k on them with h/c packages. Daily driven still getting over 20mpg highway. You name it. I guess this must be news to you or you wouldnt have made your cute little frankenstein comment.

Is it really that hard for some of you guys to show any type of respect to the camaro? But you do own a dodge and a ford muscle car and are on this website to mostly just piss people off so I get it.

I have plenty of respect for the mustang...I just dont understand it. Jealousy I guess...

What's not to understand..?

Good looks, a near bullet-proof 4-valve twin-cam with superior breathing, and a blower on the top model.
I understand perfectly.
