Maybe..... but I'm suspect of tunes where the monster has torque values that greatly exceeds the max horsepower. :(

Again, this is a thread about engine power being made. That is all. There are lots of threads that discuss the entire package of each car.

I love reading these threads. So far it's been surprisingly civil. That makes it even better.

At around 200 lbs. that extra 30 ft./lbs. will get the extra heft off the line and out of the hole where then the HP become the deciding factor. Now I'm obviously simplifying it because gear ratio and tires size comes into to play but with the LS3 torque offsetting the extra weight I think it levels the playing field in that aspect.

Not good.
That's why I believe a 3.73 would be best in the Camaro with 28" tall tires.

Pretend cars? cars that don't exist? I'm sure you can put 3.73 gears in the Camaro. Dirp.

also the pretend car statement about the ls3 on the gt tranny, that doesn't exist. and no factory offers it, so why say "put the ls3 with the mustang tranny and see what happens" that would be an abortion of intermixing manufacturers and DOES NOT EXIST, who says that? lol
"Put the same gearing in both cars. What motor do you want now?"

This is what you responded to in the other guys post. He said NOTHING about a GT tranny in a LS3.

He said "Put the same gearing in both cars" (3.73s) Does that mean GM has to do that for it to be legit? No. He just states that the LS3 would be even more of a monster with the same gearing the GT has. Anyways, I'm not going to argue with you anymore because I can already tell that you are not on the same thinking path as I am. Heck, you probably won't understand anything I just said.

I went in yesterday and test drove a 2011 5.0 Mustang just because I wanted to see what the hype was about.

I know one of the ford salesmen at our local dealer so he let me take it out on some pretty good curves. This road is not the smoothest, not a new road, lots of patches and such. I can tell you one thing, the new 2011 stang scared the hell out of me on the corners. If you tried to get on it through the curves or even tried to maintain a good speed and hit one of these asphalt patches which are around 1/2" to 3/4" taller then the main road surface, it felt like you were going to be thrown off the road.

Was it quick, YEP. I am pretty sure it would take my L99 off the line and to 1/4 at least as it was in its stock form. Now, I think my SS would take it by a bit but it has had some decent add ons such as CAI, exhaust and tune.

If the road was smooth, the stang held the corners pretty well, I would say it would corner harder then my SS by a fair margin BUT, if you hit any uneven road surfaces, you have to pull out quick, did not feel solid at all in less then ideal road surfaces.

After we took the 2011 Stang back, I took my SS out to the same stretch of road. Again, I admit that on smooth roads, the stang would likely pull the corners harder then the SS but when the road got bumpy, the SS felt damn hear as solid as it did on the smooth surface. DRAMATICALLY better then the Stang.

Some have said the SS has soft suspesion, that may be true but it handles uneven road conditions MUCH better then the Stang, at least that was my impression.

In talking with the dealers about the Stang, they said that they did not see the HP and TQ improvements with add ons like you get with the SS and that you really had to rev the Stang hard to keep the power up, similiar to what the dyno charts showed.

Just what I experienced driving both cars. I would not by a Stang, I do not care for the looks of the car personally. Sound great, quick and the 2011 is a VAST improvement over the earlier models but it in no way give you the DAMN impression when you see a 2010-2011 camaro cruise by. I guess you can have all the power you want but to me, if its loose on the bumps, it give up alot as a street car.

Good review but the following is incorrect:

"In talking with the dealers about the Stang, they said that they did not see the HP and TQ improvements with add ons like you get with the SS and that you really had to rev the Stang hard to keep the power up, similiar to what the dyno charts showed."
