I wouldn't lean on, sit on, or touch anyones car.. If it cost $1000 and was a piece of junk or if it cost $50,000.. It's just disrespect..

The other night I parked my car in a parking lot because I went away on a road trip.. So I was watching a couple walking across the parking lot. At the last second the guy took his hand and swiped it down the nose of my car as he passed by.. I asked myself why??? It must have been out of spite or jelousy, but this is another issue..

People should touch other peoples cars period... I think it's very disrespectful...

I doubt it was out of spite or jealousy, it could simply be he wanted to feel the material or paint.

Yes..you shouldnt touch other peoples things, yes it is not respectful..but folks..dont be stupid about this subject.

It is "just a car" in the grand scheme of things, but that doesn't give anyone the right to scratch it up. When I say it's just a car, I mean if it gets totaled tomorrow, I'll collect my insurance and buy another. If I lose my income, I'll sell it and buy another when things get straight again. Here’s the deal…people should not sit, touch, brush up to anyone’s car uninvited – regardless of what kinda car it is.
The guy was probably more of a jealous jerk because it was a rival car.

This is much different that some of the people that expressed they openly double park, or get upset when someone parks next to their Camaro – that’s not justifiable….

I have a 1999 VW Passat that I modded and have treated like a member of the family. At 11 years of age and 100K miles, it looks great. That was because it wasn't just a car, it was a piece of property that belonged to me and desreved to be treated with respect. Twice I got the rear bumper repainted when I got slight taps, though disfiguring, from someone rear ending me. They bitched like hell as a repaint of the rear fascia was $1500. I told them to call their insurance Co or see me in small claims. Once you start downhill with not repairing scratches, small dings et al, the car goes downhill as well.
No car , is just a car.

As mentioned before, it is more a matter of respecting other peoples belongings rather than its just a car. I do not lean against my car and correct others that to, respectfully at first, with authority if needed. Yea I get the "its just a car" bit and the "you should put your money into a house". My reply "I can live in my car but I can't drive my house"
