Ah, should have been more clear...that $30 was for a damn stock filter (AC Delco). I couldn't find a store that had a FRAM, Purolator, WIX, or K&N in stock for any (V6 or V8) 5th Gen. Even if I could find a non-AC Delco one, they were just as expensive as the one from the dealership. C'mon people, it's a flipping air filter made out of rubber, paper, metal and glue...that's not $30 worth of crap.

Hopefully AMSOIL will have the Ea Air Filters available in the stock size next time I need one. The Ea Filters are what are being used on the Injen intakes. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx

15 mpg 70 city/30 highway on my first 2 tanks. Only 250 miles on the car, so I'm hoping it will improve. My area is very hilly and NONE of our roads are straight, so we usually get 10% less mpg than the most people.

I've just went over 33K miles and with stock air I'm averaging about 26MPG and that's 15miles of back roads in Northern Virginia then down I66 for 45 miles before getting off at the exit for 7100 then about 15 minutes to work through traffic lights. It's been a blast owning mine! I have a MV6 and still have fun at the lights!

I am doing about 80/20 city/highway. I am currently averaging 12.5L/100Km (19 mpg U.S.). It improves a bit every time I check it. The only trip I had was about 15/85 city/highway, and I got 8.7L/100Km (27mpg U.S.) I am putting on my injen CAI this weekend, and my Doug Thorley Headers should be installed in about 3 weeks. Curious to see if there is any change good or bad.

Just got back from a 5 hr trip each way to Buffalo to get the solo j-pipe installed and I ended up at 29.4 mpg for the trip. I just can't believe the gas mileage ! This better than all of the 4 cylinder car I have had recently, and I still just about get the same HP as my 69 camaro ss vert.
Gotta love the V6 !

Just report auto or manual and % city/highway driving.
V6 6 speed manual, added Flowmasters and computer says 21, my calculator says 22. I do a lot of skip shifting, starting out in 2nd, skipping to 4th then 6th. Still experimenting to see the best way to skip and still get better mileage. Was hoping for a bit more although I have 25 lights each way to wrok and no freeway so I guess I shouldn't complain. Will take a trip in the near future to see what the actual hwy mileage is.

I have run tests with 87, 89, & 92 octane.

I did the exact same route, same time of day, outside air temp about the same, windows up, no AC. Route is about 42 miles, with all but about 3 miles highway. Avg speed was within 1-2 MPH on each run. Each test was done after I had gone through one tank of that octane level and then refilled.

87 & 92 were about the same - 30.3/30.4

89 was 31.4.

I know timing is pulled with 87, but is any with 89? 92 octane doesn't give any benefit for MPG. I know 92 is better than 87 for timing/HP, but does it give any benefit over 89 for timing/HP?
