You're not the only one who wishes that GM had made the 1LE with the LS7. You're butthurt about the Z/28. Nothing can be done about it, now get over it and move on.
I bought my 1le before I even knew about the z28 or any thought about a ls7 Camaro. You know why they keep dodging how much it actually costs to drop a ls7 in? Because the next question would be where all the other money went to justify the 75k for the z28. But when you state a 1le with a ls7 if a 60k car. Then you can justify the 15k price tag for all the other parts that make it a z28. Reality is though that it does not take gm 30k to switch out a ls3 for a ls7. Outside of the ten people defending the car and price the majority of the public thinks this is the biggest crap shoot gm put out. Step outside the box and think a little.

You will never get a hard figure mainly because research and development costs are not public knowledge and never will be. Why can you not grasp that there is much more to it than just dropping a LS7 in place of the LS3? Take the experts word for it.

What you want to do is a mod unless GM decides they want to make the car. So what you are really looking for is how much for some aftermarket company to do it. Because now you are talking about 1 car and not a whole change to add a new Camaro or an option. Lets say you wanted a 22" log for firewood instead of 25". The guy at the log company says sure I can do you 1 order by hand but it will cost you. And you say why would it cost more they are shorter logs. The owner tells you to make them that cheap he would have to redo his line and that would cost a lot up front so it would be cheaper for me to do this one order by hand.

The other part is that GM is under no obligation to make something you want just because you want it. They are in business to make money. It is the Murican way!

I fully understand it take more than just the engine. However 30k? They made the v8 ls3 full car for almost the price it costs to switch motors?

That's not what I want to do. I said it multiple times what it would cost if gm did it. And the answer was a 60k 1le production car.

And that is because they can spread the research and development costs out over several hundred thousand cars sold over 6 years. In the Z/28's case you are only going the sell maybe a couple thousand cars over about a year and a half. It doesn't take a genius to figure it's going to be a much costlier car.

The Z/28 is worth what people will pay for it. My bet is they will be very difficult to get your hand onto without a fat pocketbook and connections.
