GM will never sell enough V8s to make their money back on this car. To say that V6's arent what people want and thats why GM is in trouble is just ignorant. GM is in trouble and is trying to make money and the way to do that is to make the V6.

all of that said i think GM should reward EVERYONE that has pre-ordered a camaro regardless of if its a V6 or a V8. Do i understand the frustration, without question and I think that anyone that has preordered a camaro should get their car before the summer, but with that said GM especially right now is in the business of making money
thats fine that they will make money on the v6. everyone knows that. but sell the orders that people have placed first. especially if they have majority v8. if they produce all these v6 models, guess what? they arent SOLD orders. they are just for sitting on lots like the rest of the unsold chevy's out there. yeah some might sell but alot are going to sit or be traded to someone who has a buyer at a different location.

Who is they? GM has been saying all along the V6 was it's target market car. Also, the "Sports Car of the 21st Century". With the technology of the DI V6 it is a true "world car". Not our beloved American Muscle/Pony Car.

I was hoping with the pre-orders that I would be one of the few here on island to have a camaro at the start. Now im wondering if the island will be flooded with the V6 camaros before I even recieve mine. I'm #1 at my dealership, but im thinking that orders overseas will probably get filled last.

I didn't get much "controlled" and "limited" out of the EVS video.
I believe things are being blown out of proportion.
Obviously, if your dealer has 100% SS pre-orders, he will have unhappy customers.
We all knew that anyway, just like taking 50 pre orders with only 20 allocations; this isn't rocket science. The build will be near 50/50 just like GM has stated time and time again.

ONCE AGAIN, IF YOU"RE IN THE TOP 50% of SS ORDERS WITHIN YOUR DEALERS ALLOCATION, YOU'LL GET YOUR CAR......

Be patient and wait for the word from those who really matter.

I'll be driving my SS this summer - - - see ya on the road!!!!!

What I thought...thanks...at least that was the way I read this thread and took the IDL update video.

Amazing to me that preordered customers are not being rewarded with cars from GM. I know the money making machine is the V6...as I think most of us knew it would be but to say the V8s may not get made this year (those that have been ordered) is complete failure on GM!

...and yes I know no one has preordered...as GM did not accept any orders but they did look at the data and said it doesn't matter...they could at least honor that!

Another question...when the original allocations were released (before they were removed from chevylaunch, di it have a break down of the cars V6 vs V8 or by trim level or did it just say 10 allocations?

Now after today's announcement, may of you may feel like this....

I will say this, DON'T!

It will all work out...I think knowing there are delays, controlled items is important so you know what to expect and not loose the passion for the product.....for those that are upset, it is exactly that....the passion for the product... We understand.

we tell it like it is for you the retail customers, to earn your trust and to keep you more informed than most will.

thank-you and have a good night all.....

In the long term, yes. Short term, no. I'm guessing they make more per car off the SS's than they do of the v6's. All of those v8s are already sold. I don't understand why they would want to pass up on a sure thing so they can chase the dragon.

And I don't buy the whole CAFE thing. I'm pretty sure that the amount sold of each car does not affect their CAFE rating. I think it's based off how many models you have and not how well each one sells. I tried looking it up but came up empty so if someone has a link that explains it that would be lovely.

You're looking at this from a dealer perspective. Put yourself in the consumer's shoes. You just gave a deposit. You gave them the specs of what you want. You have an order sheet including an order number. To most people, this is an order. Whether you want to call it a "pre-order" or an "order" it doesn't matter. It's all the same.

GM invested $$$ in market research that told them 2/3 of buyers wanted a V6 and was more concerned with image and looks than performance. It's like they asked my wife and not me
So what in Sam Hill have they been doing with the 80/20 results of the "Pre-Order" program?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!

HELLO? McFLY!!??!??!

For 3 months now they've SEEN the fallacy of their initial estimates and SHOULD have done SOMETHING!!!! ANYTHING!!!!

For example:

Best case scenario - Get the SS parts suppliers on the phone and tell them to crank out more LS3/LS99 and T6060's, etc...

Worst Case Scenario - Get the Dealers on the phone and tell them how many V6 and How many V8 they will be allocated and when/how this will play out.

Either case would SURELY have been less of a catastrophe than the slow-motion-train-wreck we've seen concluding today.

Don't jump to conspiracy theories. I'm sure this is NOT malicious or deceptive on GM's part in any way. They are NOT a shifty company looking for shady deals to rip us off.

This is merely incompetence on their part.

How many other times can you name that "they keep pushing back the date"?? No guessing, I'd like to see confirmation from announcements by GM/Chevy and not some wild eyed "well I thought it was due so and so".
