There's some pretty damming texts back and forth between the equipment guys directly referencing Brady. I would bet some ugly crap is going to happen. Goodell doesn't like this kind of thing. It'll probably be too harsh though.

However it goes I hope Brady is back by week 8 when they meet up with the Phins. That new Defense wants to talk to Tommy Boy...

I've said this since the beginning. IF the Patriots were deflating balls, then there is no way Brady didn't know. Whether it affected the outcome of any games is arguable, especially since this could have gone on for the season (or longer).

IF they were deflating balls, then Brady needs man up and take the punishment. We'll see in future days if anything happens along that front. Considering Las Vegas has stopped all betting on the AFC until this is resolved...that's a pretty big step.

This certainly isn't the written apology Kraft was looking for, though.

Sorry, but you can't handle the football as much as he does and not know.... and for those who say well the Patriots did better in the 2nd half against the Colts.... IT STOPPED RAINING!!!!

The balls are easier to catch in cold/wet weather when they are slightly underinflated. I know, I used to have a regulation football and it was a pita to play with in the snow...

I'm curious. Are people in Boston aware that text messages can be subpoenaed?

Hernandez was convicted largely due to text messages he sent. Now this.

I highly doubt that Patriots were the first to do it... just the first dummies to get caught, much like Spygate.

That being said, that's pretty disgusting seriously. I hope they all get seriously fined for it, suspensions go out and loss of draft picks next year.

DISCLAIMER: Patriots fan here so there's that

I read over the report briefly, I mean it's like a Tolkien book long. My main take aways:
1. The science report agrees that the pressure in the ball should have dropped, their contention is that the Pats balls dropped more than the Colts balls so that had to be done manually. In their testing they could not replicate the pressure drop differences between the two team balls. Still, the range of drop to me seems reasonable due to variation in how teams prep their balls.
2. The Wells report give full and complete credibility to any statements by the NFL officials and little to no weight to any statements by Patriots personnel. Case in point, when McNally took the balls out to the field without a referee ok and or referee walking with him McNally says he does that most of the time and two Patriot security guards corroborate his story. Yet the NFL ref says that never happens and Wells takes him at his word 100% merely saying other evidence backs up the NFL stance though they don't share that information. I mean what NFL ref is going to say "yeah, we basically break protocol every game" to an investigator? To me too much weight is given to NFL officials.
3. Wells seems very pissed off that Brady would not relent to having his phone searched. I wonder how much this added to the Brady angle of the findings. Seems Wells was very mad about this and it shows in the report.
4. The report says 1 minute 40 seconds is ample time to deflate 13 balls with a needle, stating that even after 1 practice run this was easily done. I would like to see a video of this, I don't think you can get a needle into the little black air hole that fast and get all the balls out of the bag then back in that fast. I find this suspect.

Basically it's a reasonable report that has quite a bit of extrapolation and opinion. They cannot replicate the data that they had to work with, but they also have no real evidence that the balls were manually deflated. Hence the funny "more likely than not" language.

I think the Pats balls were right at 12.5, then deflated naturally during the game as shown by the tests. I think maybe the Pats stress their balls quite a bit in order to game the pressure drop hoping their will leak more. Is this iffy and right on the line? Yes, but in the Wells report we see the Jet game balls were around 16 psi (mental games by Jets, I applaud them) so I will go out on a wild limb here and say balls are messed with across the league every weekend.

In the end this made no difference to anything and it's so blown out of proportion it's sad. I think it would have been better for the league to just come out and say "guys, we know a bunch of you are messing with balls and that stops right now. We are going to check so you are on notice." I am 100% sure this kind of thing goes on all the time across the NFL.

With proper balls, without the huge, overbearing, cheating inspired advantage 0.5-1.0 psi balls gave the Patriots, they destroyed the Colts in the 2nd half and engineered maybe the two best drives I have ever seen in the Superbowl vs the Seahawks. NOTHING YOU ALL WANT TO SAY CHANGES THIS. To keep acting like this matters makes my opinion of you diminish very much. People just like to complain.

Indeed, most people don't even know Spygate was a filming location that the Patriots argued was still inside the rules (I don't agree with Patriots position on that, I think they tried to skirt it on a technicality in language of the rule) and the punishment was well above and beyond what was reasonable.

Look, 14 years as pretty much the best team in the NFL is going to make anyone not a Pats fan insane. It's not 1 psi trust me.

Fact is they beat the hell out of the Colts in that game with or without the deflated balls.

Personally I've hated the Pats waaaaay before they were good. I'm talking mid 70's.

That problem to many (myself included) is that it seems like Bellicheck has a culture of winning no matter what you have to do, cheating is fine.

I feel like the whole "Dynasty" is tainted because of the multiple scandals.

If it were my Dolphins I wouldn't be the least bit proud...

You say tainted, it's tainted because you say it is?

Look, we have covered "Spygate", it was a legal difference of opinion on the location of where filming is done. I was against that Pats on that, I think they knew full well what the rule was and tried to skirt it. Material advantage, none at all. Since 2010 I can see any angle of any game I want on Youtube from the stands. Periscope now makes that even easier. This argument is dead.

I truly believe that Pats submit balls to the refs right at 12.5 and they treat the balls so they most likely bleed air more so than other teams. Advantage? Maybe mentally, but nothing in reality.

I think the Pats ride the rules more so to get inside heads. Clearly its working. But you don't win for 14 years in the NFL with bullshit. You actually have to play.

I'm not the only one who says it's tainted it's pretty much everyone that is not a Pats fan that says this. There's just a pattern and a stigma because of the way they conduct business.

True they do have to play to get the record they have but they should be able to do it w/o the "blurry interpretation of the rule book". Are they the only ones no, but they have been caught the most this past decade and that's why it keeps coming up.
