I was expecting at least $1000 lower on the SS since it's supposed to be 'comparable' to the Mustang GT when it comes to price. $34,000+ for an SS2, which would be like the Mustang GT Premium isn't comparable in price at all. I understand the Camaro has more, but their statement should have been 'comparable as far as cost vs. features', not comparable in price. For what I want it's going to be at least $40,000. And that's $4 or $5000 too much. My desire to own one at launch is pretty much gone now. I can wait awhile and save more $. Everyone enjoy their shiney new Camaro's at launch though. |

Please sir, find 422hp sitting on a chassis like that for anywhere near 31K. Standard launch control, Brembo brakes, 20" wheels, 6 speed manual, great interior. Hell I'd pay 3K for them to NOT put a Bose stereo in my car...can we have a high five for the BA system? Owned three cars with Bose and they were the single worst car stereo's I've ever experienced. |

Don't be surprised if MSRP isn't a bit less than posted.

Let's say I get the 1SS. If you get the RS package also, will that throw in the 4-gauge accessory?

My only point was that the average sports car buyer is stupid. They will look at price first (V6 wins even though slightly more because those people will see 300HP glaring at them). Then they go and compare V8's and the 70HP isn't going to be worth 3-4k to them; hell, I could add a blower for that and get at least double that... As far as your stereo argument goes, you sir, are ABSOLUTELY correct. Even the Blaupunkt in my GTO sucked to put it bluntly; nothing (2) Alpine amps, (4) Alpine speakers, and (2) Kicker subs in the rear deck didn't take care of even using the OEM head unit. I would order EVERY car radio delete if I could. We'll see how the BA performs. I have a feeling it will be lacking or they wouldn't be selling an optional sub-woofer for it. |

Depending on allocation, it could be as early as this summer that these will start going for under MSRP and FOR SURE the following spring. Again, remember this is MSRP. NO ONE I KNOW EVER PAYS MSRP FOR A NEW CAR. Only those who absolutely have to have it right now will actually pay that. That's the tax for being first. |

Reality Check Specialist
|
oooooook, time for a reality check:
in 2002, a Camaro SS with EVERY option on it went for about $32k MSRP... that was not including the 35th SS Anniversary Edition, which did add a little more on top of that... but that $32k was with the 1LE suspension upgrade, 345hp exhaust/power upgrade, the upgraded rear end, car cover, floor mats, SS front grille, key fobs, etc. the 2SS starts at $34,180... add the RS and its up to $35,380... add polished wheels and its up to $35,850... add stripes and you're up to $36,245... this car, IMO, is about on par with what the 2002 top of the line SS Camaro was. so lets compare: the 2010 model has IRS, stability management, bluetooth connectivity, USB/MP3 player interface, 20" wheels, ambient lighting and 400+hp no matter what transmission you get... all of these are things that are missing from the 2002 model... so these are all upgrades, and you get them for just over $4k... and that's BEFORE you factor in inflation since 2002. I'm sorry to tell some of you this, but if you can't afford the 2SS/RS, maybe you should look at the 2LT/RS... it really is more in line with what a 2002 Z28 was... similar horsepower, bigger wheels, better stereo, better seats and more car, overall, than a 2002 Camaro Z28... or simply wait for a 2010 model to be used... by the time January of 2011 comes around, you'll be able to get a 2010 model 2SS/RS for SIGNIFICANYLY less than MSRP. and there will be GMS pricing... and even if there isn't, a dealership that truly wants to sell a car will meet what should be GMS pricing for you... if you're a long standing customer, you should be able to get treated with respect... and if you dont, then its time to take your business elsewhere... might I suggest Henna Chevy (in Austin, TX), Tom Henry Chevrolet (in Bakerstown, PA) or simply contacting CamaroScotty on this site and getting him to get you the deal you want on the car you want. either way, this pricing is NOT BAD... its not even CLOSE to bad... and, for the money, its a performance bargain... the Camaro, again, regains the title of "best bang for the buck"... VIVA LA MUSCLE CAR!
