Derby Champ 06- I liked to get in touch with you. My E mail is racer65pete@yahoo.com. I liked to talk to you about your Challenger. I hate to tell .everyone I traded my 2lt for a SST Toxic Orange Challenger. I just felt that the Challenger would be a better fit for my Wife and I as we get older. The challenger just is so much easier to get in and out of.I 've had it for 2 weeks and turned 1600 miles on it today.Love the SST suspension. If you allow me i might come to the Camaro Fest III . Or i might bring my 72 Javlin. This sight is a lot eASIER TO NAVAGATE THEN THE CHALLENGER Site.

good paint job shop

Anyone know of a good paint shop for ABM? I would travel far to go to an excellent shop. Need to repaint the front bumper back quarter and small chips on roof. Waiting until the chrome grill is in. Here are more pics.I love being in a state with no front liscense requirement. She was delivered 10/19/09 and now has 19K on the odometer so far, 8 states down with 40 of the continentals to go and two winters under her belt (donuts are so much better ice cold).Oh yeah and sorry for not resizing pics.

I know of a few in the Chicagoland area but it would help us a little if we knew where you were.

Nice car BTW.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Good Paint Job Service

I am on the East coast but would travel anywhere to get a decent job done. Since I am not painting the whole car I feel like I have to be more careful in choosing who to do the work since ABM is such a hard color to match. Maybe if I had gone to a professional in the first place instead of the dealer I wouldn't be in this mess. I thought this would be the best place to find a paint service that already has practiced on ABM. Anyone had good luck matching the paint?

The guy I go to here on the west coast, did not have the color in his system but he mixed it himself and it came out EXACT! it was crazy how close it is, you can't tell a difference other than the normal color variation that comes from the angles and the sun hitting it. but if you look at a piece that is in the same plane and the same amount of light it is dead on. I thought that was pretty dang good for a eyeball match, plus he does not use PPG or Dupont he uses some European fancy brand paint.

I had a bad spot touched up on my rear bumper by a mobile guy here in Mt. Pleasant, SC and he did a fantastic job. I don't see any variation in color (he said that he should be able to match it perfectly, since there's only one formula) and it looks like new. It was also a REALLY reasonable price. Here's the guy's website: http://www.automendsc.com/

Had to replace my front bumber this fall. Pretty dam close to original. If you look really hard you can see in a spot or two but that's due to how the metal flake. He painted shark fin for free. After 50,000 miles, front bumber needed repaint anyway & got rid of that god aweful front plate.

I don't know the details of what you encountered, but since ABM was a limited-run color, there should be zero variants when it comes to the color mixing. Most paints have different variants based on when it was produced, which plant, etc. etc. but when I had mine mixed for my hood, etc. there was no variant, so the color matched dead-on...and I had to straight break the hood from the fenders as well as the AAC markers. The color has to be shaken very well, and often, as I found out when I did my spoiler. If the pigment and Mica in the color settle, it'll turn out too green..but the paint mix was dead on once it was shaken.
Good luck... I used UTECH paint by the way which is the no-rip-off (generic) version of AkzoNobel. I've seen people pay triple or more for going with Sherwin Williams and AkzoNobel premium and the results are the same. Also, my paint was NOT water-based, as many nowadays are. If you're in California, you may be limited to the junk they have to spray out there, so another suggestion would be to have the work done out of state where they can use the proper pigments. All the VOC laws regarding paint are ridiculous nowadays.
Good Luck!

That's it, Sikkens Akzo Nobel is the paint my body shop uses!

A note about the paint, all of GM's paints are water based now so it's best to use the same to match the color better.

Mancini Autobody in Schenectady NY...
My whole front clip was stoned to death and a kind soul left me an autograph right down to the plastic.....Cant tell where the work was done.
Color match is perfect...even in the bright sun.

I have those same wheels for my winter tires... My car turned 2 years 10-29 and I am ready to roll 41K miles.. Sucks so back man by the time Camaro fest arrives next August I bet I will have another 20K .. I need a commuter car so I can keep my baby in good shape. So far so good it runs like a champ and still enjoy the ride..
