This is happening more often than not. Because of the stuff they put in the gas. Rots anything rubber. I was replacing my fuel line once a year because of fuel rot. A couple of years ago I tried using a High Pressure fuel hose, you get at any auto parts stores. It has a small membrane for the I D, that does not break down with gasoline. I replaced all my fuel lines four years ago and they still look like new. It costs a little bit more than regular fuel line, but no more brittle fuel hoses. BTW, be careful taking the vehicle somewhere else for an evaluation that is not a certified GM shop. I had a car a few years ago that I paid to have a timing belt replaced on and the shop cross threaded the harmonic balancer bolt. After they repaired twice, new balancers and pulleys, the third time the crank was shot. Took it somewhere else for an evaluation before taking it to them the third time. Took written reports and pictures to court to explain their expert opinion that the first shop had cross threaded the balancer crank bolt. The shop's argument was that they felt the shop doing the evaluation had tampered with the crank trying to fix it and damaged it. They did not repair it, just evaluated it. Went to court and lost the case because I could not prove they had not tried to fix the car and in the end, cost me an engine from a salvage yard. |

I keep checking in on this thread hoping GM comes to their minds. Glad I'm not holding my breath. But I still hope it turns around

It's currently got the oil pan off of it checking Rod bearings, which so far all seem to be good and tight.

I dont see a reason not to install one after warranty is over. I also dont see a problem with never installing one, and doing a manual clean every 40k miles depending how much you drive. |

With forty something pages, I might have missed it, but has the Gm customer assistance people that watch this site ever comment or asked op to call them??

What if you used your cars insurance comprehensive coverage ?
Had a car when I worked at a gm dealer that the costumer drove in a water hole sucked in the intake and hydro locked the engine.( put a big hole in the block, sunfire.) That's what this costomer used to fix their car. |
