I need to clay our Avalanche and saw that Meguire's has a spray clay product. Said you can clay a whole car in about 1/2 hour. Do you think that could be a good product? The Avalanche is a 2009 and only has a few areas that are rough.

Nothing 'bad' about meguire's products, but I think a 1/2 hour is a unrealistic. Just don't use that microfiber towel that comes in the box! That's a scratch/swirl generator!

Two good "over the counter" manufacturers, which will work well are Mothers and Meguires.

I think your washing method is okay but the drying process might need to be changed. I suggest doing the pooling method after rinsing off the car and then use a leaf blower to knock off 95% of the water. Come back through the car with some detail spray and a drying towel. The less you touch the car the less likely you are to get swirls in your paint. Also, as Leo said get yourself some grit guards they really do work and I though it was all hype until I looked at the bottom of my water bucket after washing my car which is never really that dirty anyways. The foam gun does help breakdown the dirt and I do recommend it but most of that process is the fun factor in my opinion

Kate,

I did my Uncle's '75 Stingray using 2 coats of Z5, and ending with one coat of Z2,.

Here is a link Zaino's site for more info., http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...ory_Code=Zaino but don't let the info. overwhelm ya', its really easy to use. And of course you can always contact me for help!

Here's a pic. of my Uncle's Vette to show you the results;

Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Ed

Ed,

His car has Lacquer paint. Does that make a difference?

Kate,

He may want to use this instead;

I'll contact Sal at Zaino tomorrow and ask him, so as to remove any doubt.

Kate,

Directly from Sal, "either the Z2 or Z3 will work fine, assuming the paint is in good condition."

If the paint is clear coated, I'd go with Z2.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for your helpful information. I bought the Red 2011 Camaro I want to keep the car show room quality so I will use Zaino's products. Two questions - I want to clean the wheels - do I just have to apply the Z2 pro after washing? I have never clayed before, do you apply it like you are waxing?

Thanks,
Ed Church
