In my opinion, if anything the original mats are the special ones, cause you can't buy your cars original mats ever again. The 45th mats, of the red "Camaro SS" mats I have can be bought off ebay or anywhere really, and they're just an aftermarket mat, not original to the car. That's just my opinion.

My original mats got about 3,000 miles on them before I got my Lloyd Mats to replace them. I then put my original mats in the Lloyd mats box, and slid it under my bed at home for safekeeping.

That's reassurance to me right there! Glad I've decided to do mine! Probably going to do them thursday night if nothing snags my plans. I have no doubt the dirty appearance and sun don't do them justice.

Is that your Avalanche BTW?

after seeing those pictures I feel like a gloss black would be a better option.

Not my Avalanche. It is just my co-worker who parks next to me.

Ah, well I can see he has a bad case of tigerstriping (well, it's evolved into a full on fade in his case). It's classic of the Avalanches to have their plastic cladding fade horribly. I had a 2005 z71 Avalanche before my camaro.

Tell him if he's interested that chevyavalanchfanclub.com is a great forum with some great info.

While I personally used tire wet and similar products to fight my tigerstriping and fading, it looks like he'll need to paint his. It's only plastic though, all he needs to do is mask off his Avalanche, sand down the plastic a little, primer it, and paint it, with whatever rattle can paint color he choses. Trust me, it'll make a WORLD of difference, he'll be incredibly happy with it!

That is exactly what I thought the first time I saw it. They are also much easier to clean.

not sure i follow. the 45th mats are made by GM and are a 45th option for $155. so they are originals to the 45th, even if you didn't buy them with the car. i don't see how buying original parts separately detracts from originality...
