Folks,

Just a reminder that the following "caveat" has been in place since DAY 1 of the Early Order Program:

"Please keep your estimated production guide number in mind and on hand when submitting orders. Placement of an order does not guarantee production of said order, and exceeding a guide number will not generate additional production. Only bona fide sold customer orders with complete information (including customer’s name and full address) will be accepted by General Motors. Consumers making inquiries on the status of their orders will be instructed that the dealer has received an estimated production guide number, and will be directed back to their dealer for further information on their order. It is very important that you manage customer expectations consistent with your production guide numbers and consistent with the uncertainties in the production process. "

After today's fiasco, these statements carry a little more weight, don't they!!

(I don't like it anymore than the rest of you)

again you arent understanding the word i am typing. i said that chevy said they can build as many v8 to v6 becasue of the plant. i never said they were.

and i dont really care how many v6 models they sell. they shouldnt punish the people who want the v8. change your styling and crowd you are trying to bring in, BUT DONT LOSE YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS(V8)

Our intent to give the customer straight talk via GM and ourselves to avoid any further confusion. We have been at this long enough to know better.

We too, care and are concerned about the product and how the customer is handled or we would not have even made the effort to inform folks what is going on. As for being private, I know for a fact, some customers were invited to the dealership to view this broadcast and did.

Thank-you for understanding and we have complied, the video is down. Have a great weekend and look for move informed details we are allowed to share as we have them. This is a car worth waiting for and our hats off to Gm and the Camaro team for bringing her back to life......

Thumbs up

They might not have said that they would, but they definitely said that they could.

What about model constraints – is the SS model expected to be constrained?

All SS models come equipped with 6.2L V8 engine. All LS and LT models are equipped with the highly efficient, powerful 3.6L V6 engine. The results of our early intender survey indicate the majority of the demand will be for the 3.6L V6, however, the plant is preparing for a 50/50 production split between V8 and V6 engines.

Near the end of the IDL, John corrected himself from something he said earlier about the V8's...now I may have been typing an update when he first spoke, but at the end I thought he said there may not even BE a constraint on the V8....unless future orders exceed supply. Rest assured, I took the IDL differently than what was posted here.

Trust me, the truth on how the IDL was meant to be received, and if this thread has accuracy will be posted soon....

Managing your customer's (our) expectations didn't include GM bothering to tell the dealers, "Oh, by the way, we're gonna produce a bunch of V6's so each dealer can have one before we bother to produce what you sell in the meantime." What GM did there is the biggest BS part of the whole equation. That's the single reason for the biggest delay we're all going to see.

The dealers did nothing wrong IMO by accepting as many orders of whatever trim level, as they were given an allotment (production guide number) for. Those (many) who opened their mouths and told their customers they'd have their cars by April, yes, THAT is their fault.

thak you. im not the only one who has a clue whats going on here. if they want to control the amount of v8's sold, maybe we should just all buy vettes if we cant get a v8 camaro. there arent restrictions on how many v8 vettes they sell. BECAUSE THEIR ALL V*8's
