Well, I was all set today to have the dealer drop the tranny and ship it off to Circle D.
On the way to the dealership, I looked at my boost gauge: 0 psi. No vacuum, no boost, no nothing. So I have come to realize the tranny is fine. Having no boost makes the car feel like the tranny is slipping, when in fact it's fine. Supercharger looks fine, no belt broken or anything, no obvious loose or broken connections. Just a little strange whine, but nothing too out of the ordinary. My first theory is a stuck spring or something, maybe in our Wastegate. Maybe in the blowoff. Ideas? Padre |

I think the ATI kits have a bypass valve? If that's not stuck open, your weird sound could be the bearings in the blower are messed up, and the blower wheel is not spinning or is spinning with difficulty.

Doing some googling, looks like they do sell a race valve for higher HP applications, so it may be a known point of failure. Padre |

Bearings could be seized up though, that's not a rare occurrence.

Well, that explains it:
It's my first supercharger. I'm not used to what happens when you blow the outlet coupler. ![]() I'm guessing all I have to do is reconnect it? Better than spending $3k on a tranny rebuild. ![]() Padre

Padre I know you're now focusing on your boost pressure as your issue. But you originally thought you might have a tranny issue and were looking at Circle D.
Are you familair with these guys? http://www.transmissioncenter.net/6l...arts_6l90e.htm They even have Supercharged SS's car (Jannetty built) racing down the 1/4 mile on their 6L80E tranmission page. I'm always searching for new companies that build/upgrade Camaro parts. |

Yes, I've looked at them and they have good products. As is, rebuilding the tranny looks to be pushed a bit into the future. ![]() Padre |

So the trans is good to go? ![]() You're a drag racing nut so I know you have a ton of passes on that thing in the heat but just as a point of reference I was able to get about 175 passes from stock rwhp to 650 rwhp. After that I got a little slipping on the 3/4 shift so Ted decided he wanted to build it up. So far this year it has been spot on!

![]() I fixed the outlet coupler and car drives fine. Only remaining problem is it seemed to have blown out the sensor for the boost gauge, so I can't see that I'm getting boost, but everything is fine. I'm going to fix that, put in an electronic boost controller, a ZR1 MAP, and then I'll take it back to the track for some T&T. I'll also be adding a tranny cooler. I read in another thread that you had heating problems AFTER the tranny cooler install? I'm at about the same number of passes, 175+ from stock to 600rwhp. 50 with the D1. Padre |

And really just happened on day. But enough to cause some problems. I was hot lapping the shit out of the car at an Atco rental that only had 4 cars there. I never noticed the gauge. 220. With the trans blanket you can do three back to back and not have any issues. That was before the cooler though. Ever since then noting above 185.Thats some great news for you!! |

![]() ![]() I am thinking about putting in an aux tranny temp gauge with big flashing lights and bells and whistles. Maybe that'll get my attention. ![]() I like to hotlap too, and my current engine cooling setup is awesome (205* to 165* in less than 3mins). But I have to make sure the tranny is also benefiting. Are you going to tune that zr1 map so you can log boost? If so can you make me understand how to? The tuning part of it..

But that's the idea: having boost always logged internally, since I can't always count on my external gauge to show up in HPT. Padre |
