Can anyone please tell me if the Fastlane CAI used in the test was made of carbon fiber? It looked like it was to me,and i think i remember someone else mentioning it while we were bloging but when i went to thier site it said they are made from aluminum. Thanks

DAMN this is a LONG thread!! Ted, I think you should post the results in a new thread. Just title it "JRE's CAI test results".

Someone did that on another thread and found absolutely NO difference. K&N is simply a lifetime airfilter...nothing else

Are you going to post the AFR on the units as tested and the logs from the tune software you run?, As the OTR was running bad as all the smoke out the Back, I like to know the AFR.

Actually it is a fact. It's physics. Computational Fluid Dynamics is used by manufacturers in our industry to design parts.
Feel free to post any real scientific data to support your side. I'm not talking about an intake dyno test that must be ram air, because they call it ram air. I.E. this part makes more power. I'm going to call it Ram Air, therefore Ram Air exists.

Which is a Turbocharged engine. Doesn't count. Your mechanically compressing the air. These type products allow more air in. GM uses the same air box on gas & diesel trucks (cost savings), yet a turbo diesel takes 10 times the air. Open all that up and she'll rip!

Well then I guess there was no point in this test. Everyone should have just believed all manufacturers claims. Or called you.
I said nothing about statistics. I said factual data. You know, math, physics, real test data. This is the internet, you should be able to find SOME, I would think.

Actually 2SSRS, what they speak is physics... and it don't lie.

The true power comes from who can get the cleanest, coolest air. Period, end of story.
I'm still in Vararam pre-order list but after finally putting some of these CAI's to the test, I may reconsider but I don't know, vararam is a great company.

What I personally believe by "ram-air" is that it a source other than the hot underhood air to suck in.... and nothing more.

But you are not getting the air from under the hood you get the air on a OEM car from in front of the Radiator, Ther is a opening on the side that lets the air from in front of the Radiator.
