Didn't know where to buy a ticket or anything.. saw mint resto modded chevelles and belairs.. decided I was out of my league.

Looked cool though. Hope yall had a good time.
It was a cruise in...........yes, some super nice cars, but not a show with awards or anything, just hanging out in the parking lot and admiring each other's cars

Ummmm, yep, there was a stock 2012 2LT there, herc, Greg and his wife. He just got his a couple of weeks ago........so you all could have talked mods together.........

I'm not trying to be rude or anything for the record, just letting you know many people (like me) just have a stock SS and go to shows...I know im not gonna win...but I enjoy seeing the cars that do.
Yep, there was everything from a rat rod to a beautiful 1960 Vette that was to die for.....we just hung out and talked about what we want to do, and what we've done to our cars, and met some of the classic car owners too

We registered our cars free, got a free t shirt and they had door prizes all evening, all kinds of music, country, classic rock, contemporary alternative, little bit of everything. They had a $5 meal with hamburger or hot dog, chips drink and cookies to benefit the boy scouts. All you had to do was drive through the garage and "take a hard right" Next time, just bust in there..........I'll swoop you up and introduce you, don't worry, I'm the welcome wagon..........if you see my Victory Red 2LT, RS with white stripes and unpainted ground effects, I'll introduce you around..........and most of the other members would do the same!

You MUST NOT miss the F-body gathering........it is THE event for Atlanta........take my word for it..........anyone that went got hooked, and those that didn't get there regretted it...........

There's one in gatlinburg next weekend. Anyone going to that?

About a 4-5 hour drive through the mountains.. or not.. if you go up through chatanooga there's no mountains really..

I didn't try to bring my car in because I didn't feel a new stock car belonged on a "show" with a bunch of classics. There's a lot of debate on other forums that get togethers like that shouldn't allow newer cars at all.

WTF!! You are out of order for that... I told you I would not spend 1200 on a catback because I have the full American Racing Header system..

Exclamation

Hey 2012 owners!! Take a look at this thread. DO NOT PANIC! Yes it's a recall, however, it's a reprogram for the airbag light. I'm linking the post from Ms3DALE below. Folks are saying it takes 20 minutes to do. The service runs through 30 April 2012.

it just trips a CEL. Doesn't hurt anything.

It's not convenient for me to take my car to a dealer.. ever.. so I'll just call about it later. I don't buy new cars to have them in the shop.

Also, the waiting room in most dealerships around here smell like urine. Especially capital buick GMC. I had to wait like 45 minutes AFTER they said my truck was ready.. when the encoder motor broke on it the 1st time I used 4wd 2 years ago. Miserable experience.

Yea, I called, mines not in the list. Good. I try to do all my repairs myself or at a mechanic instead of dealers because the experience is just terrible. I've also heard horror stories of them not putting oil back in the car or dropping them off the lifts.. I don't trust em. And if you're out of warranty and come in for something simple they find 40,000 things wrong they want to charge you for.

I had one tell me "well.. you don't HAVE to do it but.." .. stop right there, no I don't HAVE to do anything. I came in for an oil change because I'm about to go on a trip. (this was years ago.) I didn't come in for a diagnostic.

I found something to do with my 98:

http://www.carkitinc.com/carkit2.php?id=12

at least it'd be cool to take to shows. Put a good gen III/T56 powerplant in it, it'd actually be fast too..

would handle like dirt tho.

I hear you. I don't trust many dealers. I think the only ones I trust in GA are Maxie Price, Jim Ellis, and recently Ginn because they've gotta a lot better lately and Adam (a member of ACE5) has moved up the ranks there, and I feel better going there knowing he works there.

I bought my car from Hardy, and I use them for parts (when I don't go to GMPD) and that's all been great.

BUT their service is open M-F 9-5 which makes it impossible to ever use for me, and when you have a day off and run the car by sometimes you wind up sitting inline just to get it inside the door to get on the list for 30-45 minutes.

the last time I tried to get service from them I sat in line for so long I eventually backed out and left.

Their waiting area is decent at least, and they have wifi.

Capital GMC's waiting area is like a slum. Rows of chairs in a tiny room, crammed impersonally close together, unbearable smell, their sales weren't too friendly either. I did wind up buying from them though. $10k off sticker with little negotiation was a good deal in my book.

I think the absolute worst is Carl Black though. I've never had service there, but their sales people are flat out predatory. Back when my friends were looking at a G8 (right after pontiac had shut down..) I took them by there (people take me with them car shopping cos I tend to have this thing where i like to stump the salesman by asking questions he can't answer..) and this sales guy walks up and asks what they're looking for. They're not really the kind to make small talk. (I am.. I could BS with a salesman all day..) So they just say we're just looking thanks."

Guy goes "ok.. well I'll just FOLLOW YOU AROUND then.. in case you have any questions."

He followed us right back to the car.

I've never tried a kit car before. I wonder how hard it is? That'd be a unique experience.. I dunno about yall, but usually my hobbies are just things for me to independently learn how to do something, to see if I can do it. I may just stick with the belair.. It could sure use that $5k in repairs.

I don't have any recent pics of the car, but this is what the undercarriage looks like:

EDIT: You can kinda see the top in this pic, it's fairly recent. The chrome needs to be re-done. it's pitted and peeling. That's my LQ4 project when I got it.
