Again, there was FAR more to that video than the clip posted. Especially near the end. Sorry I don't agree with the info here, and I don't think the doom is warranted.

Who is running this operation (GM). It's no wonder they're in dire straits, what happened to "consumer demand"? EVERYONE knows what we want, so why blow sunshine up our rears?

Hey guys, if demand is high, ramp up production on what we want, we're willing to pay...

Oh screw it, I'm going to locate a new vette...

EXACTLY why GM should just post the whole damn thing so we don't have to be in the dark about all this. Why do we have to get information that's been filtered by dealers? It's like the old telephone game where the "secret" starts off saying one thing and ends up getting morphed into something entirely different.

That doesn't mean line 1 can put out more V8's. It just means line 2 puts out less V6's. Only a guess on my part. Waiting for someone like OshawaInsider to shed some light.
I don't really know, but supposedly the Oshawa lines were "flex lines" capable of building two or three different car models on a single line (i.e. Camaro and a couple of other cars), at least that was my understanding. And if that is the case they should be able to build V6 and V8 on either line. So I guess we'll have to wait for the dust to settle and see what the explanations are.

I am disapointed in GM and the way they have handled this. I won't cancel my order, but I am going to sell all my GM stock ASAP. The decisions this company makes just does not make sense.

Ok, to confirm...we were not saying V8's were not going to be built...just don't expect them to be built in the capacity we are all expecting or have "pre-ordered". Not delivering any DOOM , just facts....because we KNOW how an order process works.

Yes, in any situation too, when ordering any product with GM, they do built sold orders first...but if a dealer tags his stock order in the priority page before a sold, then that is his deal and as they said in the broadcast...we as dealers are in total control of orders...Greg and I fully understand what that means. I too am not going to make this a pissing contest, but others here of their own authority have been leading down the wrong path if not in circles...

You bet SS's will be built....those of you that get an early one....cool....you'll see when that time comes how many are waiting in the wings and after a period of time, things will level out and become more available...they always do...in this situtaion and for the GM crew at home watching, they know it has to be get better. I trust it will.

Others here have also let you believe for months that a dealer could place and have his order produced whenever he wanted because it was a sold order...I quote the GM spokesman earlier today..."sold orders do not determine allocation"

did not mean to stir up the pot so much today....do not intend to sugar coat anything either....for those that have gotten great feedback from their dealers today....wonderful - just let us know when you REALLY get your car and that is all is important.

Bottom line, there has to be some control and order to production so they can plan accordingly. Just like Corvette, they can’t and won’t make ALL Z06’s…their is a balance and we must learn and work with the retail mix available!

Because the IDL's are meant for dealerships only. Yes, we can share info with the public, which I did - but the actual broadcast is the property of GM. It was a NO NO like physically posting the dealer workbook a few months back.

I guess if I picked up DOOM, I would have posted it in text - but I did not. I came away with a better feeling about production than before.

The v6's are what is going to help GM. The v8's are not going to outsell the v6's. Don't get me wrong, I ordered the SS but its the v6 that is going to sell the most and help GM the most. 10,000 sold orders and 8000 SS's. They initially projected to produce 80,000 to 100,000 cars the first year if I remember correctly. Therefore, sold orders only make up 10% of the projected sales.

Now that I have had time to give more thought to it and remove the emotion of knowing I am going to have to wait a little longer it all makes sense. So 2000 of the sold orders get filled right away and the other 8000 take 30-60 days more. Thats not too much to suffer thru. I think GM has an obligation to get as many cars sold to show the government they are doing the right thing to get the company turned around. So if 90% of the anticipated demand is for the v6, they have to go that direction. Besides, I would rather them get everything possible included in the launch of the SS, including ABL, then have to just take what they give you.

Question 1. Will he still receive V6's even though he was only alloted two cars to begin with?
Question 2. Since our initail "pre-order" means jack $hit. . what does my dealership have to do to make sure my order is placed in the system? I mean. . If our orders where for "marketing" will they ever be picked up to be made? Does the dealership have to submit it again I guess is where I am going with this?

Thanks and my brain hurts now. . .
The IDL said if a dealer has 2 cars one would be a V6.
