After keeping up with this thread for some time I decided it could not hurt to pulled the fuses. I have the V8 LS3 and the dealer told me they had put premium in it when I picked the car up. After 2500 miles - it seem still real jerky between 1-2 and 2-3 and at lower speeds. I figured it was me not being used to this new clutch (seeing how I have never driven a brand new car off the lot) and having not driven a manual in over ten years. It felt like if had some real power albeit I have been driving my truck for too many years (anything pulls faster than it).
So this morning - I am glad say that I am driving a different car. The shifting feels way smoother and accel is is beefer and it does not lug as much especially in 6th on the highway. I am about to fill up again with 93 oct tomorrow and I will see how the mpg is doing. I have been keeping up with every tank of gas I have put in her to compare against the Vehicle'ss estimate. The engineering in me has to put everything into EXCEL. After another tank I'll come to a final verdict to wether it really has helped me out. But my first impression of driving this morning has been positive.

Last night just decided to unplug everything, pulled 5 and 20 and disconnected the battery and lit it sit overnight. This morning on the ride it took my opportunities to drop off the interstate and and use the on ramp to see how she kicked and all I can say is something woke this car up because she was breaking loose in first even before hitting WOT and I have 315's in the rear. Now temps are quite cold here in Jersey at the moment so I am sure that helps with the tires breaking loose but earlier this week she wasn't breaking loose even at WOT. The herky jerkies are pretty much gone except for those induced by my getting used to the clutch. Definitely feels more responsive at partial throttle. On the way home I'll light foot it all the way and see what kind of mpg I can pull. Either way, I think at least I am back on the high octane table which is all I was concerned about.

Is this fuse pull just specific for the Camaro or will it also work on a C6 Corvette?

I might be wrong, but I don't think it's ever a good idea to get low on fuel. Make GM solve this octane table problem. Last edited by Fourth Camaro; 12-12-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

I see you live in NJ. We had some rough winds this week and I wonder if perhaps those trips you had the lower fuel economy that perhaps you were running into a headwind. Just a thought. I have read most of this thread and I will be getting my L99 Camaro in a few weeks. (The wait is killer!) I read the instructions on the fuse pull. If I ask my dealer to do this as part of the PDI, and they fill it with 93 octane gas (the station across the street from them has it), will that mean I don't have to do this myself later on if I always run 93 octane in it? Thanks. |

Maybe I'm wrong. I very well meay be. I'm not an engineer, but I don't see how an LS3 could require a battery pull along with the fuse pull also. I did the fuse pull because we reallized that there was a backup between the battery and the fuse box. (and of course because Scott threatened me if I didn't)
Mine is still running very well. I averaged 26.3 mpg for approx. 250 miles on our way to Houston. Yes, I set the counter after I was allready cruising at speed, and looked at it before I got off the interstate and had to accelerate again, but it was still damn good. I had Bonnie, James, and Rebecca in the car as well. Can someone verify the backup power location? My battery pull did nothing but froce me to reset all my settings. The fuse pull fixed the problem and I never had to reset anything. |

I have done the fuse pull a couple of times on my LS3 in attempts to turn off the check engine light that is on because of my long tubes. Both times I have left the fuses out all night, and when I replace them in the morning, the check engine light is still on. I have found that disconnecting the battery is the only way to completetly reset the computer and to turn off the check engine light (atleast for a little while). So, the fuse pull may reset the fuel and timing tables, but it does not completely reset the computer on an LS3.

I was just wondering why the Thread now states that on the LS3, the battery may need to be unplugged too? This thread is for the 'Slows'. (acceleration problems) Previous to the time this thread was made, we didn't know what was wrong with them. Hell, everyone was telling me there was nothing wrong. I KNEW there was. Guess what? ONE apology. From my dealer. |

I performed the fuse pull this weekend. Car *does* feel more responsive. Could be in my head though...

If yall don't wanna wait overnight for your capacitors to drain so your memory is cleared, tap the positive battery cable on your battery to the negative terminal. This will zero the potential across them, and tada.

One of my summer cars lives almost exclusively on a low tank of fuel, after 22 years the originial fuel pump still works. |
