I live on E. Benton. At the Fest this week. Used to tip a few with Randy at the old Owl Tap when Tennessee had it. I moved out of Albia after we got done with Cargill. Kinda lost touch after we got back in town. Bob Toms is my name married Marie Morgan if you remember her.

Hey guys, I just recently got a 2014 Ashen Gray Camaro. It's a 1LT with the RS package, so far I love it. But I was wondering, what do you guys use to help your Camaro survive Iowa. I currently live on about a mile and a half of gravel and I really don't want to end up with a bunch of rock chips. I'd like to have color matched rock guards but I can't find any and have no idea where to look for parts for this car. So if someone could point me in the right direction for parts and give me some advice on ways to keep the car clean and rock chip free that would be great.

Welcome Dylan. Be sure to post up a picture of your car when you get a chance. I drive my car year round so it was an obvious choice for me to get the GM molded splashguards. They are pricey but do a great job at keeping the sides of the car chip free. I bought mine in CGM and had them painted at a local dealership. I purchased mine from a member/vendor on this forum PatrickT.

Yeah I went to the dealer and they said it's $200 for just black textured rock guards that they say cannot be painted. Here is a picture of my car in it's current state.

Welcome to the Iowa section DylanH. Its definitely not going to be easy for you living off the gravel roads. Something else you may check into is adding 3M film. Most tinting or dealerships can get this done for you. Helps out with rock chips but it isn't cheap. I got a quote of $600.

I've heard about it but never really looked into it. Do you have any recommendations as far as keeping the car rust free? On the next nice day I'm going to wash and wax my car just wondered if there were some go to products to help protect it from Iowa roads.

Rust is inevitable here in Iowa as you know. My suggestion is to make sure you wash it as often you can...making sure to get the undercarriage and wheel wells too. I know dealerships offer a rust protection too. Not sure how much or how well it does. The other suggestion is to find a beater for the winter.
