Winter beater is key. I found a 2000 Silverado 1500 for $6000. She's a beast and been running great.

If you are worried about winter and rust I just wouldn't drive the Camaro during the winter. I drive mine and I keep it fairly clean during the winter. I believe there is a 72,000/5 year rust warranty.

Good point, only problem with the warranty is if it is caused by a rock chip they will not repair it and since he lives on gravel that is likely to happen.I love GM and their vehicles, but they really fight with warranty issues like this.

Congrats with the purchase btw...you'll enjoy it, I would recommend a winter beater though...I don't know how Jason does it

I would argue the point that it was their weak paint and poor design that caused the rock chip which inevitably caused the rust. They will also tell you that it will only be covered if the rust has eaten a hole in the sheet metal. As soon as I would start to see rust building up I would coat that area in salt and water to make it eat through faster.

Well things might change but at this point a winter beater isn't really an option. I mean it's inevitable that there will be rust but I'm just looking for some proactive options as far as waxes and things of that nature.

DylanH.
You should defiantly get XPel paint protection film to protect most of the exposed areas. I highly recommend Brandon at Willis Auto group. He does an excellent job! Welcome to the Camaro family.
