I was simply going by the cost differential from a CTS to a CTS-V and doing the same cost up from a 2LT Camaro to a ZL1.
I had no basis or knowledge of pricing I just speculated that the $20,000 or so a V costs could be applied to the Camaro.........................plus I thought a sub $50K price tag would have been very attractive. That being said, you are getting near Z06 performance and hardware for $20K LESS so maybe not tooooo bad. Now about that being 70 HP short even before you can actually buy one............

GM just announced the 2015 6th Gen Camaro will weigh 2,999 pounds and have a twin Turbo LS9 putting down 1,200 RWHP. At this time, Ford had not returned my phone calls regarding the all new 2016 Mustang Shelby.... |

I appreciate your honesty, it is what it is but I'm also not going to sugarcoat it.

Give Ford credit, they have finally matched GM with LS9 level horsepower. But this wonderful Shelby weighs in at a whopppppinnnnggggggggg 500 pounds more than the ZR1. Yes, Ford had the GT for a short while, a TRUE supercar. That is gone and this is the only architecture Ford has to play with. I can easily understand why for some this is a Camaro/Mustang battle. I've just looked at it from a Ford/GM perspective. And of course we haven't seen Fords price yet on their little beasty. Is the ZL1 still the better value? I think it will be. You are getting nearly Z06 performance from the ZL1 for a lot less money. And from my experience, the Z06 is verrrrrrry traction limited. Even with the "loose" TC on, you can quickly see how the Z06 with it's light weight and only 505 HP is more car than tire. It's why with the Cup Tires it ran a much closer 'ring time relative to the ZR1. And unless Ford tubbed out the Mustang, they can go larger diameter all they want and it gets no more rubber on the road. Are they torque managing? Is there a new trans? If you put 1,000 hp in front of a crap trans and have to torque limit it..............well we all know what you get there. And here is one small tid bit to ponder...............GM has always and I mean ALWAYS been better at chassis controls than Ford. ![]() Hmmmmmmmm seems the house is getting techy again.

oh and FYI, Navistar offers a 15L Maxxforce Diesel that puts out 550 HP and 1800 lb-ft of torque. Just sayin'
